Would RecommendI use this planer pretty regularly on residential new build homes and renovations. Mostly it gets used for straightening wall framing. It works brilliantly in this application, however, I do have to make sure the exhaust port doesn't face upwards. If it does face upwards the port will block about 50% of the time from the shavings. My only other gripe is that there is no face that allows the framing to be done directly up to a face, the planing stops about 2-3" of the floor or ceiling due to the ...

Proper blade alignment impossible
Would Not RecommendCarbide blades do not align properly using provided alignment gauge causing uneven cutting and removal of material even when cut depth set to 0 making this planer useless and a waste of money overall disappointed in DeWalt on this one

Great Tool but Messy
Would RecommendI had purchased this as I had 5 slab doors that needed 1/8 - 3/16 trimmed off. 3 quick passes at 1/16 of an inch with this planer did the trick. This was a perfect tool for the job. The only issue I would say is that when you're taking that much material off, it is very messy with saw dust and shavings. There is an outlet for dust but you'd have to hook it up to a shop vac or something to be effective.
