Perfect solution for a common task

I wish I'd had this bit when I was replacing the 30 door handles in my last house. The bit grabs well and protects the finish on the door handle. There is nothing worse than installing a new handle only to have it scratched by the driver bit. This is a great idea!

Smooth idea for a driver!

I was a little skeptical at first with just the tip of the driver exposed but once I used it I found that's all you need is the tip! In addition to protecting nearly surfaces like door knobs, you can hold the bit while driving the screw since it spins inside the cover. Very slick design that definitely has a place in my toolbox.

Finally a fantastic mar free dtiver

At last a driver that doesn’t mark up what you fastening at a off angle. This will work on any angle that you are trying to fasten a device. The built in Phillips head work on three different sizes screws

Innovative tip

This is a very innovative little screwdriver tip. I wish someone had thought of this years ago it’s very handy for not damaging doorhandles and things did it screwdriver would come in contact with. It’s durable and I’ve only run a few screws but I believe it would last a long time.

Worked better than I thought.

I needed something to keep my drill from marring up my security camera installs Nd this thing seemed to good to be true. I was worried the shallow portion of the bit would not penatrate the screw head enough to keep it from popping out but it did extremely well. I was thinking the outer casing that prevents the marring would get chewed up pretty quickly but, once again, exceeded expectations. This was a great find and worth the money.

Great for several reasons

Great for not marking up finished surfaces to the side of what you're screwing. I like it mostly because it's very helpful with the simple task of starting screws. You can hold the the stationary (red) section and get the screw started much easier. I use this almost daily at work and would recommend it.

Good Features

Anyone that has ever caught a string of clothing into a driver knows the issue of not having a guard on the bit. Crescent has a new drive bit that includes a guard which is nice. I use my driver of just about everything from house repairs to installing rubber feet on charcuterie boards so an added safety feature is something you do not have to think about with this guard. Handy!

Comes in handy in tight places. The rotating sleeve gives you protection from damaging you work. If it was magnetized, I would give it 5 stars. Overall, it is nice to have it in the tool box. It seems to be well made, and should last a good while.

Handy

I've been told I have more tools that most men. So this is just another handy tool to have on hand. Great for use on Philip head screws on door knobs. The plastic coated sleeve keep from scratching the door handle. Not used daily, but a good addition to my collection.

Another great bit from Crescent

I already had the APEX for interchangeable 1/4" bits. This one is #2 phillips only, the two pieces being the plastic sleeve (which spins freely to prevent spinning marks, or making it easy to steady the bit with your hand), and the solid metal piece inside. Well made

This product feels well made and I feel it will be durable. It not only keeps you from marring surrounding surfaces, the collar helps keep you straight while using. Love it!

No scratches

This is an awesome tool. It does not scratch areas that you have to squeeze into. When you take out screws next to a door knob I always needed to be careful not to scratch the knob. This works great. I could not take a picture in one hand and hold the drill steady too. So there are no pictures to show. This bit works the same as any other drill bit.

Great idea!

I’ve put plenty of dings in walls and furniture I’ve made because the driver jumped out of the screw head while driving the screw in. Especially after there’s a little wear on the bit. Being able to hold the bit should solve the problem. The bit spins freely inside the sleeve and is easy to hold.

Great buy

My initial opinion prior to receiving the crescent apex Philips head driver bit was that it’s just another driver bit with a sleeve. I couldn’t be more wrong. The fact that the sleeve spins freely is a plus by itself in that it won’t mar the surface you are working on. The biggest plus for me as a furniture builder is the diameter of the sleeve. Handy Bits

These bits would be particularly handy for cabinet makers and other wood workers. The plastic sleeve can be held while using and it helps to keep the bit centered on the phillips head screws.

Apex u-guard no.2 bit

We have used this type bit in the past, but have never used one with a guard. This bit would be very beneficial in protecting surfaces not wanting to be damaged. We used the bit changing cabinet doors and did not want the painted surfaces to be damaged. This bit can be used on a daily basis, but it has special features with the guard to protect adjacent surfaces.

Very helpful bit

I was impressed with the quality of these bits. Crescent has always been high on my list. The free-spinning sleeve is great for preventing scratching and to aid in control of the screws placement. It comes in handy not only for installing doorknobs but also for light fixtures, door handles and cabinet hinges, in fact, just anything needing an extended bit. Great Idea !

This is the most ingenious idea I have encountered in a long time! The sleeve is free floating and it very easy to hold still to avoid damage when installing screws and the bit coming into contact with surrounding area. It fits my cordless screwdriver well and it is also very good at holding a small screw and letting it be installed without falling off the tip. My only wish is that it was magnetic.This will be my go to bit for putting in screws!

great screwdriver bit

when i recieved this screwdriver bit, i was amazed at the quality of the product. the outer orange sleeve rotates so that you can hold on to it while using it for driving in or removing screws. the outer sleeve also protects against marking up your project if it slips off. the bit is long enough to no have to use an extension. I used this on a wood project that i am making and it was easier to screw it all together with this bit. i would recommend this to a friend.

Good quality but features are of limited use

Works well as a driver bit, quality was good, did not deform and twist out of screws. Advertised as "non-marring" with improved safety - largely correct, the plastic sleeve keeps the steel shank from contacting delicate surfaces and, since the sleeve rotates, it's less likely to catch loose clothing or debris. Having said that, there are some cons. First, only a small portion of the driver tip is exposed - if you're working in tight quarters, it may be difficult to engage the screw. Likewise...
