Worth the upgrade.

I was skeptical of this purchase. I have the woodwind with original controller. However I also have a Green Mountain Grills davey crockett smoker for my RV. The GMG would do double the smoke as the campchef. So I got this controller due to the smoke level setting feature. It makes a big difference. Super happy with it. The WiFi was also missed. Didn’t think I would but I did.

Poor bluetooth capabilities

I bought this a week ago. I couldn't wait to try it. This would mean I wouldn't have to babysit the smoker while in use. So far the wifi and bluetooth keep disconnecting. My smoker is only 30 ft from my office. It still disconnects a lot. It works great while connected.I have to look into sending it back!

Weak wifi and bluetooth

Just upgraded the controller on my PG24. Bluetooth works great if you are within 20 feet. The controller found my wifi network and did connect once. Wifi signal shows weak at -82. My wireless router is only 15 feet away. Very good concept, but poor design.

Really Bad So Far

Bought this for fathers day. I am really disappointed in this product. 1st I'll say something positive. It is really easy to install. That's about all I can say positive about it. right off the bat out of the box it needs a software update. However, it never updates. It downloads and looks like it installed but it keeps trying to update over and over again. It is still at v1.3.1 which was released in Dec it looks like. Very weak WiFi signal

Before you say "must be too far away" realize that I have 2 wifi access points and am a network engineer so I understand wireless. One access point is in my garage about 30 feet away from the smoker. All other devices (phones, tablets, laptops, alexa, etc.) have a strong signal in the exact same spot as this controller. This barely finds any connection and is unstable. I can see the connection from my router and it's very weak. Maybe it's the metal box acting like a Faraday cage. It needs a...

Works love smoke 1-10

So far so good needs some app work. Don’t stay online all the time and don’t have a alarm if temperature spikes or falls. But besides that it works great.

Retro Fit WiFi Controller

Does what it says but take a little time to get use to the app and controller but one you figure it out it's great! Connected to home WiFi easily and Bluetooth by code request, drops connection with Bluetooth but stays connected to WiFi all the time.

Great upgrade

Love the way it keeps the temp constant. The old controller varied up to 50 degrees either way I just wish the read out for the temp was a little larger.

Smoke setting is great!

Very happy with the upgrade, blue tooth works great as well as wireless as long as you have a good signal in your location. The smoke setting is the feature I wanted as I prefer to smoke certain things hotter than 225 (high smoke). Being able to adjust to 275 and run up the smoke setting is exactly what I wanted.

Awesome Enhancment...But

As a controller this is a great product, works as it should an is much better at keeping temps even. On the WiFi side I hade trouble keeping it connected at first, ended up installing a WiFi extender on that end of the house to solve the problem. All my other wifi items worked fine, I will assume wrapping the Antenna in a metal box was the problem. As a future enhancement consider an external antenna...

Easy Install;App Worked perfectly and intuitively

I just installed the new controller. The install was easy. My only concern is that the "B" wire is a little short and may be under a bit of tension which is not good. Other than that the install was a piece of cake. I am doing my first cook. I am immediately noticing a much tighter temp control even under high smoke. Again the app is excellent.

Awesome enhancement

Not only can I now control the temp of the smoker but I can also adjust the level of smoke. This thing is the bomb!!

This is not a wifi controller!

This is some sort of cruel joke. This is advertised as a wifi controller, but the app only connects via Bluetooth. So if you ever get out of BLT range, the app just stops functioning. Error, lost connection! Is not the concept of having the grill on wifi so that I can monitor it no matter where I am as long as i have access to my home network? Because this Bluetooth limitation makes this controller a mockery. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Others seem to love this, but maybe they are ...

Poor WIFI and Bluetooth Performance

Installed my Gen II WIFI Retrofit controller today. Very easy install. Works well except for the wireless connections. For Bluetooth its range is way shorter than any other BT device I have. For WIFI it couldn't find my network. My wireless router was about 40 ft from the grill and all that was between the grill and router was a sliding glass door. Gen 2 Wi-Fi Controller

Unfortunately the Wi-Fi antenna is fairly weak. The Bluetooth antenna is also fairly weak. Disappointed with the signal issues, but otherwise a good product.

Gen 2 Installation situation:

Although I haven't, yet, used it for a Roast/Smoke, etc., I am really excited with the possibilities of having a WiFi controller. Installation was quite easy, but programming the controller took some ingenuity, that could have been avoided with a little better instruction video. I was very excited to see that Camp Chef came out with the retro WiFi controller for my woodwind grill. I received the controls very quickly after placing my order. Added to my Woodwind SG. Installed In 5 minutes. The App is fine. However, I would like to see a cooking graph added. I just happen to like that.
