Shuts off

Same issue as other people I know. Tried using it for the first time and it shuts itself off about 10-20 seconds into use.

Needs Break In! Not Defective!

I was hesitant about buying this tool after all of the negative reviews. I have an heavily invested in the Craftsman V20 line and have yet to be disappointed so I bought one. I will admit that it would stop with too much pressure at first, but after a day or so of use, the tool functioned as well as my Dremel 4300 and has become my favorite! It's very handy

Same issue as others

I really want to like this tool but it is unusable. The first one that i had would turn off with very little pressure on it while in use. Took it to lowes which they swapped out and guess what...same issue with the new one.

Another Winner from Craftsman

Exceptional portability, I love that I can run it on an V20 battery, operation is better than the cordless Dremel I have, and beats the pants off the no name tool I got from AutoZone. Addressing the shut off claims, I had mine turn off once or twice. When this happened I was attempting to widen a hole that the grinding attachment was too wide for, or I was being extremely aggressive with pressure. Has potential

I like the design of this tool. However, I have had the same issue as others. The tool shuts off randomly when in use. Craftsman customer support sent a replacement very quickly. Sadly, the replacement also has the same issue. I can not use it for over 10 seconds without it shutting off.

Light Duty Only

I have several other V20 "system" tools that work well. Very disappointed with this rotary tool. Stalls out constantly when trying to cut a nail. Maybe Craftsman should offer a heavy duty version. I would pay more to have one that works with the batteries I have but offers more power. I returned the tool.

Disappointed

I love the design of this tool BUT its motor is defective. It turns off every 5 seconds and thats with very little pressure on what I'm cutting. Me and my brother both have this tool and have the same problem. My brother has went through 3 tools and they all have the same issue. All 3 had this issue on the first use. Mine did not have this issue until the 3rd use. If they resolved this motor issue I will definitely buy another one.

Good for ASMR

If all you want to do is listen to a motor, then by all means buy this tool. If you want to do anything that involves putting any load on the motor, stay away. As soon as you start grinding at anything that torques the motor, it shuts off. If I knew this when I bought it for a light plastic trimming project I would have avoided it. I only went with this unit because it was compatible with my existing V20 batteries. Do better.

Great for occasional work, not a professional tool

Bought this to replace my dremel. I’m a wood carver, and use a dremel on my smaller carvings. Couldn’t handle that work. Motor shut off repeatedly. Working with it for one day and boxed it back up and taking it back. I hope they come out with a professional version.

Do not buy

The first one shut off with a little pressure. I traded it out for a second one and it has the same issue. I have to keep turning it on just to do the most basic things

It is came in real Handy around the house for small projects as well as craft projects. It holds a charge for a very long time. The battery life is amazing. I know it will last a long time because it is a Craftsman and they are built to ask. I highly recommend this addition to anyone's Craftsman collection.

Very light, very affordable, very versatile.

I already had a Dremel, but I did not like being forced to be close to an outlet or find an extension cord. This has a lot of pep for running on a battery. I like it more than I thought I would.

Great Rotary for beginners to advanced users!!

I absolutely love it. The tool was strong it sanded very good and in a short period of time. I am looking forward to using the Craftsman V20 rotary tool for many more projects. It won’t above and beyond my expectations!! Buy it!

V20 Rotary Tool (Tool Only)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really frustrated with my V20 Rotary Tool (tool only). I don't recommend it to anyone I had a hard time with the cord constantly in the way. It is really nice that you can charge it and use the same V20 battery from other tools which is great that I didn't have to go out and buy a special battery for it. It is well made and very sturdy just don't like the cord constantly getting in the way
