Craftsman WC2200 - Avoid

I have purchased two of these based on issues. First one suffered engine failure after three years of residential monthly use. Second one started off bad when the trimmer head broke off the curve rod after first month. Replaced attachment with part from original purchase. Now the second engine blew after five minutes of use last weekend. My repairman states it is cheaper to purchase a new one. I am shopping now and noted the cost of this trimmer has increased about 80% since my last purch...

Eh... it's worked.

worked great for maybe a year. Then it started cutting off and not starting back after every 15 minutes. I've looked online on how to fix it. Cleaned and adjusted carb, fuel filter, exhaust ports. Even replaced a bunch of parts. Same issue. Got so mad I through it today... may be some other damge now. So, to make it short, if you need a weed eater for one season GREAT. if you want a reliable long-term weed eater, I have no recommendations. Maybe Craftsman can reach out to me to help.

Junk after 1 year

I have to buy a new one of these Craps_man string trimmers each year. The motor eventually burns out. It's starts to smell then runs slower and slower than dies. It will never start again. It's always dies the same way. I always buy the extended protection plan and cash it in when eligible. It's all so stupid, If Craps_man would just make a quality product, we could keep the landfills from filling with this junk.

The string does not and I emphasize does not load easy. The Lowe's worker told me I could do it easy, well that was bull. I have worked with it for over an hour and still can not get it to stay on the spool. I am so fed up. Wished I had went with the other one

Do not purchase online.

The box was damaged , ripped , almost open .

On #3 in 3 years. 2 lost spark and last one is losing power from piston/ring wear. I use them <= 1hr a week as I live on 1.5 acres and only use to weed eat/edge. Threw blower attachment away...exhuast blows harder. Warranty..not even a year.....disappointed. Lowes got there last $139 from me as now they want $179 for this beater.

The pull cord broke only on my third time using this trimmer.

Broke in less than a year!

There is a small screw holding the drive shaft to the engine. You would thing they would put a strong screw there, but no! That screw broke and in order to remove it, you have to drill it out. there is no way to replace it with a new drive shaft because after drilling the screw out, the new one will not fit. The whole engine has to be replaced because of a low-quality screw!! Craftsman used to be a good quality manufacturer, not anymore. Do not buy their junk.

Decent item

This is the second trimmer ive bought by Craftsman and they perform really well. Unfortunately, mine was just outside ofvthe 2 year extended warranty I bought, so i got a 3 year extended warranty with this one. It performs well, and the ease of adding interchangeable attachments mean I dont have to pay extra for an edger or a blower. The attachments are less than half the price of buying additional tools and store much easier. Only two things keep this from being a 5 star product. The first one...

Would not Recommend

The trimmer that I bought leaks gas from either the fuel tank cap or fuel line. While the trimmer is in use, gas drips at a steady pace. It has been this way from day one. Would not recommend

Okay while it works, but has to work at being okay

I bought this trimmer based on reputation, but it appears to have been a bad choice. This trimmer works well for what it is designed to do, when it works, but I am constantly having to address the string head assembly. Now, I cannot pull the string out of the housing, as if it is tangled up with something, and I'm afraid to open it up for fear of damaging it. Not really in the mood to recommend this product.

Buy the warranty! This isn't the old craftsman...

In 5 years, I've owned 2 of these 25cc trimmers. Mine ran like champs until the worm gear stripped out, making it useless. For context, I run 3-4 attachments in a Louisiana yard, so it gets good use. Disappointed

I bought this weedeater last summer. I have always used Craftsman, tools and all my lawn equipment. It started easily and I was satisfied with the purchase. Then three weeks ago I couldn't get it to start. I have tried each time I mow to no prevail. I tried new gas, new spark plug, tried cleaning the carburetor. It has been frustrating since I have no backup weedeater. I am disappointed because this weedeater is not even a year old. I don't want to switch to another brand, but I may not be given...

Easy to use

String twist design is terrible.

We have had this weed eater, craftsman wc 2200 for about a year now. The last three uses have been a horrible experience. The knob will not turn in with the string. It never unwinds smoothly and will fall right out after the appropriate steps to get it replaced. We have removed the cap to manually wrap the string and that works for a few mins but it just falls right back out. This design is bad. It should not be this difficult to use.

Get a Stihl for the same price

Didn’t work when I bought it and my previous broke after a year
