Sturdy piece of machinery

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had my 1034D server for several years and it is truly a workhorse and very sturdy. I use it to make flannel blankets for community service at our quilting guild for the babies at the hospital.

Great Serger

Easy to learn/use

Works great!

I bought mine from a woman who is new to sewing and thought this was just a compact sewing machine. She couldn't figure it out, so I got a great deal except she couldn't find the instruction manual. So I turned to YouTube and with the help of a good friend, I had it running in no time. It works great and I love using it. Love the neat finish it puts on my seams.

Great machine - but pedal cord is not long enough

Can I buy an extension for the pedal cord? As a tall person, I have to be so hunched in order for the desk to be low enough for the pedal to reach the floor.

The Best Little Serger Ever

I bought my 1034D five years ago to sew pillows. As an Independent Contractor for a very busy workroom, serging all cases and welt is mandatory. I can tell you that I use this machine nearly every day and it has held up so well. It is basically an industrial machine for me. In that it is so inexpensive I thought I would just buy it and get another in a year or so. It has lasted all these years! I do clean and oil it regularly and it just keeps on going. Awesome machine

I bought this machine 3 years ago, have used it a lot as I am an alteration seamstress and work mostly on bridal attire. Now I’d like to purchase another so I have a back up macine, and it’s out of stock everywhere!

Best purchase

I have never used a serger and was afraid of threading it. I watched a lot of youtube while I was waiting for the machine to come and helped a lot on everything. First thing before you use it oil it, it tells you to oil it before you use it but it's at the end of the instruction book. Read the instruction book first before you use it too. Ok for the treading it's really easy after a few times of treading. I sat my chrome book in front of me with while I threaded it. I haven't tried all the stitc...

Terrible

very disappointed!! I bought it and just tried it out and it worked ok. Changed the thread and now it's not sewing. I know it's threaded correctly. It's making a knocking noise and sounds terrible!! I wouldn't suggest it at all!

Great Machine

Someone returned the machine I purchased and I'm so glad they did. It works like a charm. It is easy and such fun to use. I highly recommend getting this serger.

Worst Purchase Ever

I bought this machine in December and it didn’t even last for two months before it stopped looping the fourth thread. After following all advice, new needles, retreading, new thread, and tightening the belt, it still doesn’t work.

Not what I expected

I got the Brother 1034D for Christmas 2017. I had been wanting a serger for some time. I had great plans for all the wonderful things I would make. However, what has been the biggest deterrent of this product are the videos for us beginners. Yes, I can spend hours on Youtube... (which I have done btw), but all my free time gets spent looking up how to videos, and nothing for doing. My biggest wish is that Brother would dedicate itself on providing better informational videos that are up to date....

This is my first serger and I think it is pretty easy to use. So far I have only used it for my finishing overlock stitches and find it leaves a beautiful finish seam.I would highly recommend for a first time user as myself.
