Need to be familiar with Sergers

The machine doesn't work as smoothly as the serger I had before, but mine was destroyed in a house fire. It's also noisy. The book would be impossible to understand if I did not previously have a serger. Words on one page, pictures on the next, etc. Very hard to understand.

Watch you tube before you thread the machine

This is a very easy to use straight forward serger. I used to own a much more complicated machine so I really like the simplicity of this machine. The one caveat is, the instructions on how to thread the machine is terrible and I've threaded a much more complicated serger before! Do yourself a favor if you're having trouble threading, you tube it!

Little Gem!

Wonderful machine, easy to thread and has a lot of features you would expect to find on a much more expensive machine. Outstanding customer service from Brother too.

Don’t buy it!

Waste of money! My machine broke after owning it for 7 months making a little girls dress seam with normal cotton fabric. When I tried to take a shop to repair it, one place quoted me more than the cost of the machine, and several places said they won’t touch this model because it’s made to break. I finally found a certified brother repair shop and they said it won’t be covered by a warranty. Several people at sewing/quilting shops have since told me this machine is made to break. Would not reco...

Great for beginners

Great speed! I did run into a little issue with the timing on this machine early into having it, but was able to fix it myself after a few how to videos.

What a Reliable Workhorse!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 1034D serges everything I throw at it. It is easy to adjust tension settings to suit chiffon to denim. Rolled hems are beautiful. Drop the knife, adjust some, tensions, and flatlock seams and hems are easy. The optional presser feet allow sewing elastic and piping. I love the professional look in gives my garments.

Loved It

The machine looks like an alien but it is easy, I have been using this on the weekends and having a blast, my 12 year old Grand Daughter has also been using the machine.

Good Starter Machine

Long Lasting Ink

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was recommended to by a Brother Printer by a computer programmer in the family. He was right. Not only an easy set up it comes with 6onths of ink and I can print from my phone and turn color off.
