This Brother surger is my first. I have used others and talked to everyone I know about their serger. It performs perfectly. I have changed threads often with no difficulty. Very user friendly to thread. Changing from four to three threads and back not a problem. For the money this was an awesome purchase and I love my serger!!

Really like having it. Just learning!

Always wanted one, now I have to play to find all it can do. Sturdy and well thought out.

Haven’t used this for anything other than finishing stitch around armholes on garments. Once I figured out how to change the thread it was pretty much smooth sailing. Does a fast and neat work. Great price too!

I have yet to be able to sew with this machine. The threading is complicated and difficult for those of us without perfect eyesight.

1034D - Bought it because it was rated 'ease of threading' for the price - returned it because it was a nightmare to re-thread. The feed dog caught the fabric and gouged the fabric, thread knotted and broke a needle, and after replacing the needle and re-threading for the 100th time, I returned it so I would not have the aggravation because I love working on my sewing projects.

Great little machine so far

I have not used this machine extensively yet, but everything I have tried so far has been great. Just the fact that it came pre-threaded was wonderful. The user book that came with it, along with the CDs have been even more helpful. I am looking forward to many happy sewing adventures with this machine!!!

Best purchase ever

I love my machine it takes a little getting use to but once I did I can sew on it An things I didn't know I could do with it is endless . For the price it is a great machine

Can't sew without a serger

I purchased this serger when my older model singer became out of time. It would have cost me almost as much to repair as to purchase this machine. I was afraid of the treading but finally sat down and watched a tutorial on line and was able to thread the machine without any problems. I haven't gotten to sew much but did do one project and I was very pleased with the result. The only negative I have was with a case I purchased to go with the machine. Works fine all the time

I think I have this machine for over two years and never had problem. It helps me a lot on my projects.It's fun to use but treading the machine is not fun. I always have to use the instruction manual and the guide on the machine itself to install the treads.

Love my Brother - 1034D

First time using a serger and I love it. Basically using the serger for repair of grandkids clothes and hemming. I plan on making pajamas for all Nine grandkids in 2018.

A Very Good Serger for the Money

I needed (or felt I needed) a serger for occasional use. I needed one fast because I had a children's nightgown to hem and wanted it to look professional. I quilt, machine embroider and do punch needle projects. While working a punch needle project the edges of the hooped weaver's cloth unravel, so being able to quickly serge the edges beforehand will keep the task neat and tidy. I have just started using the machine, but I am happy with it so far. Threading was tricky until I retreaded the needles after threading the loopers. Then it worked fine. I didn't see anything in the directions saying you must rethread the needles even if only the looper ran out of thread. The online videos from Brother were also helpful.

Good machine for sewing heavy fabrics like denim and sweater knits. All it takes is the turn of the dial to get the various stitches. I would give it five stars except threads pull a little tight when sewing.

Love my Brother serger!

I purchased my Brother 1034D on Amazon in summer 2017. It sat there, intimidating me for a few months before I got the guts to use it. Now I don't know what I was waiting for. It came threaded, so I got the hang of it by just turning it on and doing some samples. I think I was nervous about rethreading it with new cones of a neutral color, but if you just follow the threading instructions and the color coding it is totally doable. It worked the first time and then I was serging again immediately...

Great Purchase

I was very pleased with my purchase of this machine. The instructional CD was easy to follow and made using this type of sewing machine easy and less scary. I had never used a serger before, and was pleasantly surprised that I could thread the machine and change a needle with little effort. I am extremely happy that I purchased this serger.
