Best router!

This router is amazing! We had a very old craftsman before, and it got the job done but it just wasn’t enough. This one is fantastic because you are able to change the shaft sizes, you can use it on a table or free hand it, the plunge is amazing feature too, I would recommend this to anyone who’s serious about woodworking or cabinet making. Faulty on/off switch

Bought this six months ago and has minimal use. Turned it on today and nothing happens. Looked up the issue online and found out I have to order a new switch because this is a common problem. Wish I would have known this before. Will not buy this again

Good, but an investment.

I bought this router because of the Bosch name and it's versatility. I can be used as a plunge router, a fixed based router and it will easily be fit into a router table I am planning while also allowing for depth adjustment from the bottom of the base. I will say I have had to buy a lot of accessories after the initial purchase (3/8in collet, template guide adapter plate, base centering cone, edge guide, etc...). It's a BEAST!

I've only used once but man this thing is a beast! It so easy to use, the soft start is great, and it's quiet. I almost bought the Dewalt set but was turned off by the bad reviews and issues people had. NO REGRETS!!!! I just can't wait to get this mounted in my table and turn some nice pieces. It cut a 3/4" straight flute 7/8" into a 2x4 like a hot knife through butter. SPEND THE EXTRA $20, I promise you will not regret it.

Much better than the first router I bought.

I built a new mantle for my house, and discovered I needed a router for two reason: to put a decorative edge on the two boards I used as the mantle, and to scribe the back/wall-facing edge. Labor intensive

My Bosch is 8 mos old. I use the plunge and the fixed base. I find that changing bases to be incredibly difficult though all releases are loose.

don't waster your money

most difficult router to move in it's fixed base I've ever used. I can only guess I got a defective unit. the fixed base hung up, got stuck, didn't adjust, and it was a massive fight to use. I'm returning it with utter disappointment in Bosch.

I Bought this Router to go alone with my Palm Router and this was a great Purchase. This Router has a smooth operation and has plenty if per the soft works great. If you are in the market for a router you will not be disapointed in this tool.

Bosch 1617 Router

A great machine! Plenty of power to grind through the toughest task. Plunge base works smoothly. Does not have a spindle lock so bit changes require high manual dexterity.

I haven't used the router as of yet but I would hesitate to buy another product made by bosch. the problem being trying to register for the warranty. the difficulty registering almost made me bring the router back and buy a different brand. I don't see the use in having a login and a password just to register a tool

Satisfied with router

The model 1617EVSPK is the first router I have purchased. So far, I am satisfied with the results I obtained using this router, and I expect that further experience will improve my perception. Two comments - due to limited visibility of the router bit, getting the router correctly positioned to start the cut is going to take some practice. Also, I have found that using a high quality router bit is a large factor in the quality of the cut.
