I have been using $30 corded B&D trimmers for about 6 years before I finally woke up to the cordless world. Didn't want to try the gas route so picked this up for $150.00 before the sale ended. With a 3.5 dial setting I was able to weed eat for a straight 15-20 minutes and also edge about 100 yards of sidewalk. The battery still had about 25% of it's power left! Plenty of power!

This trimmer has plenty of power to handle waist high weeds and grass. The battery lasts around 30 minutes going nonstop on level 1 power. No gas to buy, less noise, no fumes! I was so impressed with this trimmer I bought a second one for my husband - now we can both work at the same time!

Skeptical at first but now a believer

I only purchased this product because of the many glowing reviews and the fact that it said on the box that I could try it for 30 days and if not satisfied I could return it. This weed-eater ROCKS!

This Black & Decker LST 136 performs as advertised. If you expect it to mow the south 40 that you should have had your local farmer bail for hay, then this is not your tool. If you have an acre or less lawn with numerous trees, planting beds and sidewalks this is your product. I purchased a 2nd battery and was able to accomplish all trimming on those fully charged units. Works great

I bought my trimmer a year ago and I am really glad I got it. It works great. It has a long battery life and as much power as gas string trimmers I have used. 2 cycle gas trimmers are notoriously hard to start and there is the hassle of buying gas and oil for them. I like the 36 volt battery better. It is quiet and no starting problems. I highly recommend this trimmer.

Good string trimmer - Not so good edger

The first one of these I bought was defective. The plastic guard was damaged. So far this trimmer seems to work good at trimming. I'm not impressed with the edging it does but I may just need more practice. The battery didn't last long enough and I only have a few areas to do.

Perfect for me

I never thought I'd use a cordless trimmer. I have a large piece of land with a lot of landscaping, trees, stone, etc. I had recently purchased a new gas trimmer, a 4 cycle, 30 cc beast that really got the job done -- sort of. I have only minimal use of my right arm and after two neck surgeries, it isn't going to improve. I can't even finish 1/4 of the yard with that heavy thing. Doesn't hold charge

This trimmer has a really great design, easy to change the trimmer string, and light weight. The rub is that it will not hold a charge. I set mine on 3/4 range for a medium power output while trimming. It took me 3 to 4 hours of extra time to edge my lawn, I had to stop and recharge about every 30 min.

poor battery time

You would think a 36V battery would give you more then 30 minutes of cutting time, Cutting med. high grass on the 4 setting. It works great, but you will need a second battery. It would be nice if you could get a discount on a replacement. battery

better than expected

This is an awesome machine and it works very well for trimming tall grass and weeds around the lawn and garden. This is different from a 2 cycle gas trimmer in that it does not have the same brute power but it compensates by using a high speed and low drag because the motor directly drives the cutter head. Hassle free..at last

I have struggled over the years with dragging around 100' cords and gas powered triimmers that wouldn't start. I have a relatively small area to trim (15 minutes) and decided to go cordless/gasless. What a difference. Grab it, flip the switch, pull the trigger and go. I hate yard work, but this makes it almost enjoyable. I wish I had bought this trimmer sooner and saved myself a lot of frustration.

Good but I took it back

So I wanted to like this, wanted no cord and no gas, and it does work well, just the battery doesn't last long enough to do what I need. Were on a corner lot, lots of sidewalk and fence, lot's of stuff growing this spring, made it about 1/4 - 1/3 of what I needed on one charge, takes over an hour to charge, so this is going to take awhile. Works just as I had hoped

I was glad to find a 36V battery trimmer/edger to keep the woods next to my home at bay. It removed most of the brush but occasionally got tangled in the vines. A bonus is the 6 power settings! Pretty powerful for battery operated.

Exceptionall Poor Performance

I have a large property and struggled with the decision to either purchase a gasoline or battery operated string trimmer. I was sucked in by the 36 v lithium battery of this unit. I should have known it was a bad decision at the time of purchase as I went to purchase a spare battery only to find that the spare would cost almost $90.
