This is my 2nd one. First one became unuseable when the string holder broke. This piece is hardfastened to the shaft and cant be rrplaced. I had it one year. Despite the problem I bought another as I love the ease of use. It could be enhanced bu a thicker cup to hold the string, and fastened by a screw to the shaft so it could be replaced. The thicker cup would increase its strength and length of use. It wears when used as an edger.

Awesome Purchase

I did a lot of research before i bought this trimmer. I was glad i did. This thing is amazing and it doesn't fling up rocks and other things into your shin as much as gas powered or corded trimmers. Its just enough power to cut what you need. The extra boost effect is awesome as well for those taller weeds and grass. Over all i am very happy with this purchase. Its light weight and easy to handle. I have just used this for about a week now, so far its really well built and couldn't be happier.

I like the lightweight, lot better on my back.

customer service was excellent wish it had an option to remain running without having to hold the switch..when your hands are arthritic, this can be a problem.

Just what granny needed

My old Black & Decker died after years of good service. So it was a no brain er to buy the same brand. After looking on line I saw the great deal of $89 over the usual $119. And to find it has 2 batterys...yea! No hanging on a charger either. Had it ready to roll in no time and put one battery on the charger.The other had enough juice for a run around the house. It is quieter then the old one Happy little granny here.

Very Weak

The switch that is supposed to speed up the power does nothing. The motor is weak. The wheel that is used for edging is in the way of trimming the grass. Taking it back today.

easy and powerful

I have never used a trimmer/edger before. I have a small yard and this works great. I have used it 5 or 6 times and have not had to recharge the battery yet! It was easy to put together and is easy to use. It works on grass and the dandelions, clover and other weeds around the edges of my yard. Would definitely recommend it.

Perfect for Light Jobs

I bought this trimmer for two reasons: 1) for my wife to be able to use because of its light-weight and 2) easy to take to a different location. In both ways, it works exactly as I had hoped. It's easy for anyone to use because of its small size and (relatively) low weight. Also, being battery powered, it is easy to throw in the car without worrying about the mess of gas and oil or, if electric powered, hauling around a long, heavy extension cord. Good product

Easy to assemble. Light weight. Batteries take many hours to recharge, can weedeat for about 30 minutes on a charge. But, I can operate it more easily than a corded weedeater and a gas powered tool. The auto feed of line is great.

limited battery life without reduction in power limited cutting ability with single thin line when using as an edger your handle is in fixed position and is uncomfortable when using on a good size property the battery dies with little warning-- better have both charged

Batteries No Good

Batteries advertised one hour use - we were lucky to get 30 minutes on a fully charged battery, usually less. option switch was in the "1' position (long use). What used to take an hour took two days - waiting on batteries to charge. "safety switch" kills your thumb - not needed. Returned for refund.

Pleasantly Surprised!

I was a bit reluctant at first because of years using a gas powered one. I found the set-up very easy and the features pretty cool. The edger worked perfectly. The autofeed line worked perfectly. Light weight and the best feature is the power. I did my entire yard, driveway edges, around trees, etc,...everything on one battery and still didn't drain. Nice to operate

The trimmer is great for light grass and weed work. I was surprised at how well it cuts and the lighter weight, compared to other battery weeders. Having the two batteries and also, the choice of longer trimming time or heavier duty cutting is great.

Good operation but the battery life isn't the one hour it says it would be. Not too heavy and easy to adjust the height. String adjusts itself... yippee!

Great machine

This trimmer is much lighter than the one it is replacing, and much more powerful, as well. I love that it comes with two battery packs. I've used it twice since purchased, and I would highly recommend it.

awesome product

I wasn't sure about the quality of this product. It works great at edging and weed wacking,.very impressed. I purchased this one for my father in law. The battery last about 30 minutes on my 1/2 acre yard.

Best of both world!

This battery operated trimmer/edger provides the advantage of gas trimmer as you can take it anywhere, won't have to manage the cords (for an electric edger). The gas edgers are maintenance headache. However, this one is smooth on that like electric edgers. You just need to charge the battery. There are 2 of them in the box. So, you can use the 2nd one if the 1st one runs out. I use power mode = shorter battery life. This is great for mid-small size lawns.
