Would RecommendStrong sturdy mailbox, hopefully it stands up to the brats that like to play mailbox tag in our neighborhood. Only issue is the lid slams down when you open it but otherwise I have no complaints. I like the magnetic closure vs the regular mailbox closure. Overall happy with my purchase.
This mailbox is a Beast!
Would RecommendI was tired of replacing mailboxes, so I picked this box up. No regrets. Today it had it’s THIRD trial by fire and ate it’s third vehicle mirror. Little scratched and I’ve had to bend the lip back out, but still the same strong box. I paired my mailbox with a wood post and foam rather than concrete. The wood and foam helps this box to hold up to the energy it receives on impact.
Indestructible
Would RecommendYou get what you pay for. I've owned this box for going on 5 years. It has been hit twice by wreckless drivers. Although I had to either repair or replace the cedar pole it sits on, the box was practically untouched. On one of the hits I noticed the door scraped on one side when opened/closed. I simply took a hammer and tapped the door/hinge, and knocked it back into place. The paint has also held up well. After two hits, any scrape or scratch didn't completely remove the paint, so it remains ru...
Built like a tank
Would RecommendSolid mailbox. It could benefit from having a chain or stop to keep the door from opening all the way down (pointed at the ground). Otherwise this thing is solid. I’d say I’d buy it again but probably wont need to!
Great look and size
Would RecommendGreat size for a family of three holds packages and every thing
Solid
Would RecommendThis thing is built top notch. Just grabbing the handle let’s you know it will last.
Gibraltar Mailboxes Ironside 7.8-in W x 9.6-in H M
Just recently got the opportunity to put up a new post and install the mailbox. This is one solid and heavy unit. Although it has the outward appearance of a "traditional" mailbox its construction is much sturdier, anyone who tries to vandalize it may be in for a surprise. I expect it to last many years.
IRONSIDE MAILBOX
Would RecommendGreat mailbox. sturdy, REAL Steel, well built! Buy a cheaper mailbox and they rust, parts fall off, and they easily dent. This box will last for a long time and won't fall apart.
Practically industructible & great Manufacturer
Would RecommendWe bought the Ironside Mailbox in 2010 from Lowes after needing to replace cheaper ones several times. Years later, the Ironside still is in great shape. A couple of months ago, an out-of-control vehicle veered off the road, drove right through our mailbox, and obliterated the mailbox post. The mailbox survived with no damage. Recently, the handle did need replacing. When I phoned Gibraltar Mailboxes, they sent me a replacement part, NO CHARGE. Even though it was 9 years after the origina...
Heavy Duty Mailbox.
Would RecommendThis is one great mailbox. It is very heavy and can withstand a hit with a bat. Mine has been hit and is still standing.
bought another one
Would RecommendI bought the first one because it was very sturdy, and the door shut smoothly and securely. The magnet bracket was plastic and it apparently dry rotted and broke after many years. I bought this one to replace the original. It still beats everything else on the shelf for quality and strength. A bit pricey but worth it.
Ironside Mailbox
Would RecommendSuper sturdy and strong. I'm sure this will easily withstand the kids with the baseball bats around my neighborhood.
Inspect Before Install
Would Not RecommendI've installed a total of 8 of these Gibraltar Ironside MB801B and vey similar Solar Gorup Tuff Body TB1B0000 boxes. I'm offering full customer cost refund of MB801B box installed this week due to water damaged mail. Inspection reveals fit of front lid to sides and back panel to sides at mid height allows light to penetrate thru box front to back. Combination of narrow front lid, slightly warped too wide side panels, thin lid sealing lip and poor lid hinge alignment makes water leakage into fron...
Durability, not the “el cheapo” kind
Would RecommendIf you’re looking for a classic looking mailbox that will hold up over the years, this one is for you. You can feel the quality material vs a cheap plastic or even poorly manufactured metal one.
