What Customers Are Saying
The Utilitech sump pump has received mixed reviews. Some users report the pump works well and is easy to install, but many others experienced issues with the float switch and overall reliability. Common problems include the pump failing within a few months, the float switch malfunctioning, and the pump shutting off when the filter gets clogged. The build quality has also been criticized, leading some reviewers to recommend spending more for a higher-quality brand instead.

Would Recommendan ok running sump,,,quiet, pushes water pretty well, the power is sufficient. my only complaint about it is that the float isn't as sensitive as a plunger type float. so the water level has to get higher for it to turn on.

Utilitech Sump Pump Works great
Would RecommendThis sump pump really sucks! I mean it does a great job of removing water from flooding at a rate of 40 gpm. I highly recommend its purchase if you need a sump pump to handle water removal.

Good Pump with a crappy float switch.
The pump works good when it works. Sometimes the pump won`t click on until you shake the drain pipe. Needs a better float switch.
float issue & longevity
Would Not RecommendI purchased this pump 4/2016 and it worked fine the first year. Since we have never had a flooded basement I forget about the pump until this month when we had another very rainy month. When I checked the sump I found that the float was vertical and completely submerged. Tapping on the float caused the pump to activate. I have been checking regularly and most of the time that is how I get the pump to run. Looks like I will have to replace this pump as I don't want to babysit it all the time.
Easy and quick.
Would RecommendCheap and it works great. I only have 5 feet of head so it's should have no problems. Only had it 3 weeks so I can't comment on the durability

Does the job
Would RecommendEasy too install and does the job. Seems to be working well. The only thing I wish was different was the float mechanism. This one can get caught or stuck on the side of the pit unless perfectly positioned. It would be better if the float mechanism was the type that went straight up and down.

sump pump
Would RecommendDoes the job on laundry sump pit very well. Faster than my 25 yr. old 1/4 h.p. HINT....if going into a septic system, use filter screens on washer discharge hose. Change when screen starts getting clogged.

Works
Would RecommendReally moves the water from a 24/30 inch deep pit using a 1 1/2 pvc pipe. Works as expected. Used for 2 weeks or so can’t give an opinion on longevity of unit at this time

Utilitech 0.33-HP Aluminum Submersible Sump Pump
Would RecommendEven in a submerged drain, this unit "waits" until the float-switch is almost at its extreme height. I purchased it because of a surprise 3" flood in our basement (the exact time to discover the old unit was dead). It was comparable size to the old one and reasonably priced, but a sizable pool still has to gather around the drain before it will turn itself back on.

Emergency Installation Last Night
Would Not RecommendWe've been having rain pretty steadily over the last couple of days. Yesterday evening I heard a gurgling sound in the basement. My sump pump was running continuously. Apparently the switch had failed and the until was stuck on. Since the entire unit looked badly corroded I decided that I should replace it. Ran out to Lowes and got this thing. Like other reviewers have noted, the float design is strange. It took me a long time to modify it, to get it adjusted, to where the pump would turn on pr...
Failed after two years
My forty year old pump failed two years ago and I replaced it with this model. This pump failed after two years, replaced it with exactly the same model. I’m hoping that the two year failure was a abberation. It runs fine and the price is good.

This is a sump pump and must be placed in a sump lit. You sound as if you needed a utility pump which is a bottom suction unit.
