As other reviews have stated, I bought one of these 7-day programmable light switches for a very simple, single pole porch light installation, and it never powered up. So I returned it and picked up a second switch just in case the first might have been a one-off defective in the box - same thing with the second switch - it never powered up. Don’t waste your time with this switch! It’s junk!!

3hrs to "charge up", patience helped

Funny that the 1st one had the terminals mismarked. Still got it wired up right (single pole, nothing fancy) but after 10 minutes of not working figured it was kaput so went and exchanged it. 2nd one was marked correctly. Timer never powered-up

Left the timer wired for 9 hrs and it never powered up. Removed and replaced rocker switch following same line/load wire arrangement and all is good. There are issues with this timer as evident from other comments.

I've had this switch installed for a couple of months and it works great to keep the exterior lights on at night including across a seasonal time change to come out of daylight savings time. Great Product but missing instruction step

This is just the switch that I need to control the lights on the portico of my 45-year-old house. After installing it I check to make sure that there was 120vac from line to ground. The switch was completely dead. I waited 30 minutes and nothing. 45 minutes and nothing. Then I had to go run errands and when I got back 30 minutes later the switch was working. Bad instructions, read the reviews

I read the reviews after I was convined it was bad and had already put everything back the way it was . After I read the reviews, I "Hot Wired" it to a power strip and it came on in about 30 minutes. If the manual said "It may take up to 30 minutes to come on" this product would have a much higher rating and fewer returns for Lowes to deal with.

Be patient & check your ground

It will take longer than 1 minute to charge the battery. With over 4 decades of electronic background, even I thought 60 seconds was way to fast to charge, so relax and check back in 30 minutes. Also, I believe this uses the ground to complete the circuit it needs to power itself, so make sure that your ground IS uninteruppted all the way back to your electrical box. Confirm by testing with 120V ac test light or AC volt meter by touching probes to hot wire (black) and also to ground. You should...

Battery has to charge before display powers up

I have installed several of these and for whatever reason the battery takes much longer than instructions indicate. I install and walk away and check periodically until display powers up then proceed to programing. I have not had any issues with product once operational.

Looks like I should have read the reviews prior to purchasing. I installed 3 of them and none of them will power up. Have switched the wires and waited over 30 minutes with both installation and they won't power up. Sounds like folks have had to wait longer in some cases so I will leave them a while longer and see if they come on. Nothing in the instructions talk about having to wait to come on.
