Eh

Took four different attempts for it to catch a rat. I appreciate that they are re-usable and that's what I initially purchased it for. However, having to get that close to a rat carcass and dispose of it is nauseating. Furthermore, after disposing of the body I'm expected to then touch the area where the rat's dead head was and place more bait it in? LOL. No thanks. Won't be purchasing again, going back to the tried and true old fashioned ones.

doesn't kill'm right

I've had to drown every rat I've ever caught in this trap,its a really terrible experience watching the creature get trapped and not die from the snap. The trap is good at catching them just doesn't kill them at all.

These used to be hood years ago / now useless

Years ago these used to work fine. I could trap rats or mice and we use them for several months. Now 4 out of the 5 I purchased don’t work at all -- I can’t even set them the first time -- and one that I triggered with a stick because the ants ate all the peanut butter is now useless as well. Waste of money. I will definitely be looking for a different type of a trap. Complete waste of $$$$

definitley catches rats and mice

i bought this item a about 1 week and a half agao and have gotten a mouse and a rat. The trap defintely is strong enough tp catch a rat howevee depending on thw size doesnt kill. I literally just handled a caught rat prior to eriting this review. The trap worked perfwctly. The rat went for the bait and the ttap snapped onto its head. However it was not strong enough to kill the rat so i had to take care of things myself unfortunately. Also i had use the tried and true bait of peanut butter...

Easy to set

Easy to set. I had several rats escape until I modified the trap by installing 2 drywall screws in the corners of the lid and making sure the screws cleared the trigger. I also put a strip of reflective tape on the top and sides of trap to see them at night. Also I make sure they are secured with a cord. Depends on the size of the rat

It was good at killing a couple of them. Then the third one was a bigger rat. The rat has been going around my back yard for 4 days now with this trap attached to him.

Good traps

I have had great success with these trap. A previous review mentioned the bait being gone and the trap not sprung. I had the same experience and just couldn’t figure out what was so small that it didn’t get caught. Finally discovered the culprits were slugs! Those little buggers slime their way right in there, have a snack and slime on out. Who knew...they like peanut butter!

Killed 3 huge rats in a hour. Just kept resetting

Bought tonight killed 3 rats in an hour. Only downside is it only killed the first rat The other 2 had to be killed while still on trap. With other means. Ect. Spade

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very simple use and was able set trap with ease. Very very easy way of disposing of the trash. Love the way you can add bait...won’t ever snap you fingers again like the old traps. Will always have them ready near our chicken feed

bait holder

I have two traps where the bait holder has broken off the tong that keeps it in the trap. Where can I buy new bait holders? I don't need the main part of the trap again.

Looks pretty; bait cup nice - does little else

worthless - redesign fails to trap rodents! they crawl inside "jaws" and dig bait out of cup with their claws!

Quick kill, easy cleanup

Had some rats chew through my hurricane supplies in my garage. Put three of these Tomcat traps in various areas. Found the sweet spot where the entry hole into my attic is. 4 rats dead in 24 hours same trap. Three rats in a 4 hour span. That included one trap killing two rats at once. Baited it with peanut butter. Clean up is easy, never had to touch the rats just opened the clamshell and the dead rats just drop out. Works Extremely Well

I had an issue for weeks; the traps that building management put in were too small. Finally, I got your product and set it. The next day, I heard a loud snap letting know it had worked. My only complaint is with disposing of it since the rat was hanging out of it. Ugh. . .I didn't reuse the trap. But I will be buying it again if the need arises!

Do not buy

I bought this trap three days ago and it is broken already. I had three catches and then it broke. It is a poor design. There are two little tabs on the bottom next to the back that act as a tension for the tab. This should have been a metal spring. Needs a redesign.

Excellent Traps

I fill the built in cup with peanut butter and put the trap near where the rats come out of the field from a kennel next door. 5 for 5 in day number 1

We've had a couple squirrels living in our detached garage. They have torn apart too many things to list. Tried other products with horrible results. Then I bought one of these traps. Set it up last night and woke up to a trapped squirrel. After repairing the trap it went right back to the same location. We did this throughout the day. In an 18 hour window this trap caught 5 squirrels. That was only day #1 haha. I have ONLY HIGH PRAISE for this trap. Well done Tomcat!

They need to sell replacement bait holders

Product works good but sometimes the trap is sprung and I loose the bait holder. Starting to get tired of buying more whole traps. Have three perfectly good ones that I can't use because they are now missing the bait holder.

New design is problematic

The new design where the spring is now in the top half of the jaws is terrible. The spring easily breaks away from the plastic base. I prefer the old design with the spring at the rear of the jaws. I still have one that I use regularly. Looking around for the old design.

Rats Run Away with the Trap wire, stake and all

I have used these traps successfully in the past but the rats now have it figure out. I set out three trips this week and 2 missing with the wire and stake. There must be a couple of rats running around with them attached to them somehow. I need to find a different trap because they have figure these out somewhat.
