Spend the little more for Miracle Grow

This is by far not a potting mix by any good gardeners standard as it is the garden soil version with very little additives to improve drainage. It consists of no less than 85% mulch with 15% misc mixed in. I have made use of it when mixing with native soils and miracle grow dirt in which I have 90%+ success growing almost anything I want, but DO NOT USE as a standalone if you want your plants to be healthy and happy.

Misleading

The product advertised is misleading. Within the name it states vegetable and flower but under the specifications it states NOT for vegetable use. USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU ARE USING THIS PRODUCT TO GROW VEGETABLES.

HORRIBLE - MORE MULCH LIKE THEN POTTING SOIL

I looked at Lowes online and saw sta-green potting mix and looked at the enlarged picture. It looked like soil and was less expensive then Miracle gro. I thought I would try. Once I got it home it was not soil - more on the mulch side. I decided to do a test and tried to grow 4 green bean seeds using Sta-green and 4 green bean seeds using my old miracle grow left over from last year. 2 weeks later I had beans growing from the miracle grow and nothing from Sta-green. Very rough consistency. Full of sticks and other roughage.

Worst potting mix ever purchased

Purchased for my outside herb pots. I'd say almost half is twigs - some fairly large and even found rocks. One rock was larger than a golf ball. It also doesn't look like a mix that's going to retain moisture well, and looks mostly like the bags of garden soil I purchased.

Nice dark, rich looking soil

"Soil" repels water

I picked up a bag of this potting soil to plant vegetable seeds. After several waterings in a seed tray, the soil just below the surface was bone dry. Not dry as in it dried out between waterings (I watered them daily), it was like the soil never even got wet. This soil repels water, making it impossible to grow anything. What a waste of money.

Buy organic

This appears to be mainly shredded wood. Doesn’t hold moisture unless the container has a bottom.

Good price, but mainly wood chips

I planted some strawberries with this mix, and they seem happy so far. But overall doesn't retain water well, and doesn't seem to be much nutrient rich soil since it's wood chips. It's mulch without the smell

Mostly fine wood mulch, not much soil

I purchased this product due to the lower cost as I have a lot of large flower pots to fill. When I opened the bag it looks more like wood mulch than the potting soil I'm used to. I have doubts about flowers growing well in this, I doubt that it will hold nutients that are necessary for growth

Disappointed

I bought 2 bags of this, and after potting all my plants I noticed during watering time its hard as a rock and very hydrophobic. It's also quite heavy and dense. It killed my Endless Summer Hydrangea and I'm pretty upset. Now I use Miracle-Gro Moisture Control and love it! I have better control.

excellent service

My pick up was brought out timely, the gentleman was loading my vehicle another employee stopped to assist. That is team work. Excellent staff is difficult to find, you have with these two employees

Fungus in soil

The bag of soil I purchased had fungus pores in it. I re-potted some plants using it, and all of them have struggled since and there are mushrooms now growing in multiple pots. The soil itself is also very chunky. Lots of large chunks of mulch. Definitely do NOT recommend.
