Sony Receiver STR-DH590

I have been using a STR-DH550 and I bought the STR-DH590 thinking I was upgrading. I discovered that the 590 Does not have on screen editing like the 550 does. You have to edit the HDMI's at the receiver, If a person is not familiar with this type of editing they will be very disappointed.

Great features at great price.

I've had this several weeks and it replaced a 20 year old receiver - I also replaced my 15 year old television. The 2 work great together. I love the 5.1 surround sound - who needs 7.2? The TV sound coming through the receiver and speakers is great. The remote is mostly self-explanatory. I love the ease of connecting my other HDMI devices and how they connect through this receiver to the TV via the ARC HDMI. I am not sure why I didn't upgrade sooner.

Great A/V receiver for the price

I purchased this unit to replace my old A/V receiver which gave up after 9 years. Connections were basic and easy. It has great features that are standard for most home theater systems. Perfect for my living room. Great sound!

Sony 5.2 AV Receiver

Works well, all the speaker terminals and HDMI sockets for a small system.

EASY SETUP AND SOUNDS GREAT!

I really love this home theater system. Instead of purchasing a sound bar for my TV, I decided to get this Sony receiver and it's working great. I actually have 5 speakers attached to it which includes a center speaker. I'm also able to connect my Fire TV stick, Roku Ultra, and a DVD player which is something you can't do with a sound bar.

Great sound, has a lot of features.

I am enjoying it. Only difficult was putting FM stations in order as there was no instruction in manual. Love the 5 speaker sound of CD, and DVD.

Great receiver

This receiver was exactly what I was looking for. I can connect all of my components, plus it has HDMI connections, and the Bluetooth works easily and seamlessly. The sound is great! My only comment is that you can't adjust the tone for bass to treble, but the built in setting sounds great anyway no matter what I'm playing - vinyl records, CD's, iPad, or TV.

Great for my Basement

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER BRANDS WITH ARC

The receiver only allows using HDMI to run the sound of a television through it if the TV has ARC. My 2018 has ARC but it a different brand than SONY. The ARC did not work even though the instructions were followed to turn on the ARC through the SONY receiver. An optic cable had to be purchased to use the receiver. Very disappointed with the initial set up. Works fine now...something to consider if one wants the unit to work out of the box.

Sony Multi Channel Receiver

This unit replaced my failing Pioneer receiver. After much research, the great reviews and the price point of this unit were the selling factors for me. The Sony is easy to set up and I am very happy with my purchase. The Sound from my surround sound speakers is much better than with the older unit I had. This Sony is a great product for a very reasonable cost.

Selector "tv" stuck

Originally sounded and worked fine, but now has developed and issue whereas receiver is stuck in "tv" input and will not change mode or turn off!!

High dollar sound for low dollar price!

I bought this after my older 5.1 receiver stopped working. The main reason we use this is for music and the sound quality is top notch! I was pleasantly surprised when the unit automatically detected my older SACDs and I was able to listen to them in surround sound through the HDMI connection! DVD Audio also sounds excellent. My only con is the Startup Guide does not mention "Setting your speaker pattern" which is found in the Operating Instructions.

Great receiver!

It's exactly what I wanted. It has an 7 second delay in starting once the power button is pushed but if it gets worse they said they'd look at it.

still learning all this receiver can do but, I am enjoying the smart features and the ability to connect many other devices to it. the only thing I don't like is there is no equalizer! If I wanted to listen to music in a hall, club or stadium I would go there. I wish to listen in my living room and a equalizer would tailor the sound to my liking. Still enjoying it!

Great quality and easy set up

I needed to replace a 12 year old Pioneer and found this SONY to be the best value. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the sound and picture - and quite honestly it couldn't be better for our family room AV experience. I've had super high end $$$ receivers and can honestly say this performs just as well. Really like how easy the set up was from the start as well as how easy it was to tweak for our preferences. Buy it - you won't regret it!

Very efficient.

Bought this a little over a month ago and seemed to be the best choice out of reciever I shopped for. My Onkyo 7.1 blew up after a power outage. Now All I need is a 5.1. This is much more compact and cooler running with more than enough power. Before I did not have the ARC and now powers with my Sony TV. Was a fast setup with the mic. Of course all the speaker connections were different so that took the longest part of setup and not Sony fault. Have yet to try the built in bluetooth but I hav...
