Useful, just make sure it is squarely placed in the pipe, then slowly turn in the direction of the arrow.

not the best tool for the job.

Not easy to use in tight places. If turned the wrong way it cuts tubing into a spiral. Spend the extra $$$ for the scissor style cutter.

Hard to use

Hard to get a good cut. To be clear, I own the other cutting tool that smoothly and cleanly cuts straight through the pipe with minimal effort, even for a woman with very small hands. This product, however, I had great difficulty with as there's only a blade on one side that requires one to squeeze and rotate it around the pipe in order to cut. Perhaps it is because I was cutting previously installed pipe for a repair, but I could not get a straight cut with a clean edge with this cutting tool ...

Adequate for the DYIer

The first time I cut PEX pipe, I used a hacksaw thinking I could save the price of this tool. But the hacksaw left a rough edge with fragments of the PEX on the end of the pipe. Undeterred I went forward and inserted the PEX pipe into my Sharkbite device. Thinking I was done I retired for the day to finish my project the following day. Upon my investigation the next day, I noticed a small but noticeable wet spot on the floor under my connection. I immediately returned to the store to purchase th...

Poor Product

I have a piece of PEX A that I tried to cut with this tool. It now looks like a spiral cable cover. I couldn't find the better quality tool so I gave it a try. I finally had to use a pipe cutter to make a score line and finished it with my razor knife. You have to be very careful so as not to damage the O ring. This is not the tool for the job.

Buy a better cutter

Spend the money and buy a better cutter. The blade is crooked in mine and it cuts nice little spiral tubes. Decorative but useless

Not suitable for EvoPEX

The EvoPEX instructions say to make a clean, flat cut of the pipe. This tool has a design flaw that prevents a flat cut. The molded plastic has a ridge where it should be flat to hold the pipe, so the cutter does not track straight. This makes it impossible to bottom out the pipe in the fitting. In the photo of the EvoPEX connector, the little green square should fill the gap when properly seated. Otherwise, it should be fine for tubing that does not require a precise cut.

Works okay but I had a difficult time making straight cuts! Spend a couple more dollars and get a ratcheting style cutter!

Its difficult to placed pipe to cut after cut difficult to released can't even get a straight cut. Just buy a different type of cutter .

Awful.

NOT a better idea. Almost never a decent cut. This thing will spiral around too easy leaving you with an uneven cut and a split end that you have to trim and square up.

Good enough

It worked well enough for the small project we did. The cutters were hard to get open wide enough for 1/2 pipe but, that is how they work. Natural tension cuts the pex.

SharkBite PEX Pipe Cutter

Bought this cheaper PEX cutter because I had only three cuts to make in 5/8" pipe. Works fine when you practice with a short piece of pipe at your computer desk where you can rotate the pipe in the cutter. It easily slices through the pipe. But when lying on your back in a crawlspace working overhead next to a floor joist, it is a different story. If you are not very carefully aligned, it will cut a never-ending spiral in the pipe. There goes the critical length plus 1 inch for the SharkBit...
