What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the classic, attractive design and sturdy construction of these deck posts. Most highlight how the ornamental appearance with ball-top styling enhances decks, porches, and railings, with many noting the timeless appeal and professional finish. When wood is defect-free, reviewers consistently describe the posts as strong and well-made, suitable for outdoor use. However, many report encountering warped, cracked, or split wood requiring careful inspection and sorting through multiple posts. Despite this quality inconsistency, most customers find them a reliable, value-driven solution when carefully selected.

Crooked wood
Would Not RecommendI ordered two newel posts. One was fine. The other was very crooked. I have to return it. I don’t live close to Lowes (about 35 minutes away). I am disappointed that someone thought it was okay to send that type of material.

Extremely Disappointed with Poor Quality Wood
Would Not RecommendI recently purchased several Severe Weather 3.5-in x 3.5-in x 4-1/2-ft Natural Pressure Treated Wood Pine Deck Posts from Lowe's, and I am thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the wood. I had to return multiple defective pieces, which was incredibly frustrating. The wood was warped, cracked, and had large knots, making it unsuitable for use. Poor quality
I had to climb up on the shelf to get at the product. Then I had to sort thru 12 posts before I could find 2 that were good. I needed 3 but the rest were either split, chipped or bent.
