Ratings & Reviews for Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader 46-lb Capacity Compatible with Ice Melt, Salt, Fertilizer, Seed

What Customers Are Saying
Customers are sharply divided on this spreader. Many praise its ease of use, lightweight maneuverability, and large hopper capacity, noting it's simple to clean and store. However, nearly as many report severe mechanical failures—plastic agitators breaking, wheel axles snapping, and edge guard cables severing after minimal use. Uneven fertilizer distribution is a frequent complaint, with customers describing visible striping across lawns despite proper calibration. While some value the edge guard feature for keeping fertilizer off driveways, others report it fails within a season. Overall, this spreader polarizes users between those satisfied with handling and those frustrated by premature failures and poor build quality.

Would Not RecommendI bought this to replace a unit I bought three years ago at TSC, I paid $79 for that one, and it held up well. This unit is not worth the money. The wheels are plastic, when filled with fertilizer the wheels did not turn on grass, I had to remove about half the product to get them rolling, to call it a broadcast spreader is a massive overstatement, it threw maybe two feet, the wheel hubcaps went farther when they continuly fell off. I returned for a full refund.

Not Good
Would Not RecommendThis spreader is garbage. At least that is where I put it after I purchased it, because Lowes would not allow me to return it. The spreader does not evenly spread anything and as a result it will destroy your yard. Buy a quality spreader from a more reputable retailer, who will stand behind the products they sell and steer clear of cheap plastic spreaders made by Scotts

Scott's EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader
Works perfectly for our yard size. The edge guard feature setting works great. Keeps the fertilizer off the driveway and walkway.

Do not buy! Poor design. Cheap product.
Wish I could rate it a zero. Cheap hollow wheels accumulate fertilizer and you end up with lines in your yard where too much fertilizer falls off the.wheel. in addition the.edge guard broke after the first use...

Poor performance
This is such a disappointment. It throws stuff about two feet each side. My old one would spread about double that and pushed easier.

Poor design
Would Not RecommendBought this spreader to replace my 30 year old Scotts. "They don't make them like they use to"! The Turf Builder Fertilizer only shoots out about two(2) feet to sides at a "brisk pace". I would have to run to get any distance. The "Edger" just makes a mess. Gave up and emptied the fertilizer into my old spreader and had no issues. I wasted about an hour emptying and cleaning the "NEW" spreader so I can return it. I should have believed the "POOR" reviews. Whoever designed this spreader should l...

Works like a Charm
Sturdy and works well. Happy with the broadcast and ease of use. Started by using seed to cover and area we recently tilled. Was good coverage and it looked even and there were no over seeded areas.

Wheels Fall Off - Again
I have purchased two of these and the wheels have fallen off each one shortly after the warranty was up. I only used the one that just broke twice before they started coming off. Unfortunately, it was past the one-year limit. I push approximately an acre a total of 6-7 times a year with Scott's products (3-4x) or Tetrazide for grubs (2-3X). I have manages to rig them to keep the wheels on by drilling the axle and inserting a screw which acts as a shim to keep the tabs "up" but the tabs have now...
