What Customers Are Saying
Customers are sharply divided on this spreader. Many praise its ease of use, lightweight maneuverability, and large hopper capacity, noting it's simple to clean and store. However, nearly as many report severe mechanical failures—plastic agitators breaking, wheel axles snapping, and edge guard cables severing after minimal use. Uneven fertilizer distribution is a frequent complaint, with customers describing visible striping across lawns despite proper calibration. While some value the edge guard feature for keeping fertilizer off driveways, others report it fails within a season. Overall, this spreader polarizes users between those satisfied with handling and those frustrated by premature failures and poor build quality.

Awesome best spreader I’ve ever had. Works perfect.

Highly recommended!
Great spreader! Much better than the one I use to use. Spreads fertilizer evenly and holds enough fertilizer to do my whole yard without having to refill constantly!

Garbage Tool
Cheap construction for the price of over 100 dollars. Wheels won't stay on and rest of the spreader keeps falling apart. A piece of garbage compared to the older cheaper ones.

Product worked for about 2 years on lawn
I purchased my Scotts Edgeguard DLX just over 2 years ago. Worked fine up until today. Now the wheels seems to have lost the bite to the axel and so they spin but the axel does not. Disappointed in this product to only last 2 years

Do not waste your money
What a piece of junk ! The spreader clogs CONSTANTLY . The one I purchased does not broadcast out of the right side, it only drops down on the wheel. Give me a good old fashion drop spreader any day. Unfortunately you cannot find a Scott's drop spreader this year.

Do NOT recommend this spreader
We were so excited to receive this spreader with our fertilizer. After the early spring application, I am so disappointed. We calibrated and used the settling indicated on the bag. Our yard looks like it has bright green zebra stripes.

Almost good.
Would RecommendBasically it's fine, except that the agitator is a little too far away from the slit the pellets are supposed to fall through. So, the slightest bit of clumping (e.g. with Scott's Triple Action) clogs the slit and needs to be manually cleared. Also it's a little tiring to hold the spring-loaded handle down, but that's easy to fix with a wire-tie.

Not a good buy.
Would Not RecommendDoes not spread much at all. I had to push it back and forth to get good coverage. Set it up per the instructions on the Scotts turf builder guide. It wastes products and does not do a good job of spreading anything. Do not buy.

EdgeGuard Doesn't Last
Would Not RecommendThese spreaders don't last more than a couple years. I spread maybe twice a year on my yard which is about 4/5 of an acre. Going to look at a professional model, I guess. Might cost more, but in the long run it may save me having to put out $90 every two or so years.
