Ratings & Reviews for Scotts Broadcast Spreader 6.25-lb Capacity Compatible with Fertilizer, Seed

it only lasted for four uses

used this spreader four times and this spreader stopped working.

Hand Spreader Review - Decent product

Generally works pretty well but product doesn't always flow into rotating feed at the bottom of the unit so you have to shake it which results in uneven distribution. The same thing happens with their rotary fertilizer spreaders.

Dont buy the Wizz

I bought this 2 months ago. Used it twice. Now does not work at all. Junk product. Do waste your money. Changed batteries. Does not matter. Doesnt work. Nothing. It is a paper weight now.

Not for me

The fertilizer doesnt come out consistently and a lot can fall out at once. I burnt my grass twice doing this and haven’t used since.

Needs batteries

Works well but requiring batteries is poor design for such a simple tool.

Good Idea

Came with batteries but they may be no good. Will try new ones in the Spring. Loved the idea of this thing and when it worked was great but it locked up and slowed down a bit. Coverage was good.

The electrical switch is of terrible design.

I bought 2 each and they both performed terribly. The motor would run intermittently or at lower speeds when pressing the trigger. I took one of them apart and bipassed the poorly designed electrical switch and put an on/off switch externally mounted on the handle. Now the unit operates at max speed all the time. The original spring switch contact is intermittent and insufficient for proper operation. I plan to modify the second unit in the future

Worked once

Bought in the spring, it worked than. Than go to use it this fall, just like everyone else said, it won't work. Put new batteries in, still won't work. Basically a paper weight.

The broadcaster works well

Great concept. Poor execution.

Good concept, poor execution. I used twice and it has stopped working. Put away after first use and would not work the second time I went to use it. Replaced the batteries. Went to use it today and it did not work. Replaced batteries. The unit is dead.

This spreader work exceptionally well.

This battery powered seed spreader worked great for me. It ran steadily as I seeded a 10,000 square foot piece of freshly bared ground. The adjustability of the seed flow was especially helpful.

Simple flaw that turns this into paperweight

Used only once and after a sit, not working. Replaced batteries, nope. Opened up this tool that had maybe 15 minutes use and found inferior sealing attempts for the 2 pigtail. First of all the female end of the connector is pointed upward with no seal. If at one time there was a seal that's still clearly a problem. Pins were rusted and one was broken off into the connector. This tool is not prepared to be outside, and that's where most vendors store them. Positive note-this is a very easy fix un...

The Edge Guard is the problem

Used once quit working. Same problem as everyone else. FYI: The problem is the Edge Guard. It comes loose and stops the blades from turning. Had to take the bottom off and remove it. Now it works fine. Not sure what the Edge Guard is for but it’s the reason these stop working and should be redesigned.

Not as described. By a manual spreader.

Doesn’t spread as good as it describes. The middle of seed feeds through leaving the sides untouched unless you start shaking the spreader.

Don’t waste your $

The fertilizer you put in gets hung behind the wheel and won’t spin it out and runs the batteries down.

Great idea. If it works

Just stopped. Replaced batteries. Took apart to check wiring Motor runs. Spreader motor will not function when depressed
