What Customers Are Saying

Customers overwhelmingly praise this textured coating for its versatility across metal and outdoor applications—from truck beds to toolboxes, trailers, and lawn equipment. Most highlight excellent adhesion to clean surfaces, strong resistance to chipping and rust, and durability lasting years even under harsh conditions. Many appreciate the quick drying time and forgiving spray application that builds even finishes without runs. However, some report inconsistent spray performance, with certain cans failing to dispense or clogging mid-use. Despite these reliability issues, most customers find the product highly effective and worthwhile for diverse protective coating needs.

Doesn't Spray Right

Would Not Recommend

I have two cans of this and neither one sprays right. One doesn't spray in any position and the other one only sprays if it is sideways or upside down. I managed to finish my project by spraying upside down, but it was awkward. Once applied it is a pretty nice finish.

Rustoleum

Good as galvanize

Would Recommend

I live on salt water so everything rusts. This stuff is a tuff coating that protects ferrous metals from rust, period. I am currently coating the legs and wall of a new above ground pool we will install when the weather warms up a bit.

Great Stuff

Would Recommend

This stuff works great, I used it on some rock sliders and front bumpers on an Fj cruiser, way cheaper than powder coating and if it gets scarred up you just get a new can, sand it off a bit and reapply. Lots of uses, easy to step up on in rain grips well and looks good too.

Great product when used properly.

Would Recommend

This is a great product for its intended use. The bad reviews are from people who do not understand how to use the product. Prep your surface well and use many thin coats to achieve the most durable finish. Make sure to allow proper drying time between coats. This product works best on on already painted surfaces that have been scuffed. Short cuts will cause an undesirable finish.

Works well but difficult to apply

Would Recommend

I bought a 2008 Honda Ridgeline that needed some paint reconditioning. One problem was the scratched truck bed, which is a common issue on this truck. I bought two cans of this product to try to bring it back to it's original black. After cleaning, washing and drying the bed, I masked off everything and started spraying. The product itself worked really well, making a nice thin, rough coating that adhered to the existing bed coating. The issue was the spray can itself. Like others have found, it...

Thick paint

Would Not Recommend

This product is little more than thick paint. Tried 2 cans with neither one passing as acceptable. Shook can for minutes and paint would never spray consistently. Can would lots of air but little paint, asif paint is too thick to come out of nozzle. When it did spray it was no more than thick enamel paint similar to what you would buy from a dollar store, at least regular paint comes out of the can. Tried constantly shaking can while spraying with no difference. Temperature and humidity were opt...

Spray can Bedliner

Would Recommend

My expectations weren't very high for a bed liner that comes in a can. I used it to spray line a Little Red Wagon I use in the garden. It seems to be holding up very well. Was easy to apply. Simple instructions. Recommend this for such smaller projects or to touch up a damaged truck bed liner.

Truck bed spray

Would Recommend

Rustoleum is a good product in and of itself to help prevent rust on metal and other items. This particular product seems to be for 'repair' on a truck bed liner rather than to have a permanent liner.

Great product for the money

Would Recommend

Not a bad product for the money. It may not be as hi-tech as the pro brands advertised, but it worked well on my truck bed AND it looks good. When spraying though, be careful not to overspray on your back and forth strokes as it will cause it to run. Better to use light strokes and do it several times. And wearing a mask IS A MUST!

May have sat on the shelf too long

Would Recommend

I purchased it for some rust protection on a dog kennel. I had a terrible time trying to use it. Spits and sputters. Had to shake the can every few feet of use. When I ran out I went and purchased another can from another store, and it worked beautiful. Exactly as promised. I think I must have gotten an old or defective can the first time. Oh well.

Terrific Stuff

Would Recommend

We've used a couple of the other brands and this one stands out for ease of use and adhesion and durability. It does an excellent job with tree wounds by keeping out insects and moisture. We've used it several times on truck beds and it holds up well. It is prudent to give it a few days to truly cure before sliding very heavy objects across it. It comes out of the can better than the competitors. Best of luck!

Stuff works great

Would Recommend

Easy to apply and covers flaws.I used it on a motorcycle trailer that sits outside.I had applied it about 6 years ago. Some rust bled through and the finish had faded, but this thing sits out in the sun in very rough conditions(the Texas sun).I just brushed some of the rust off, sprayed it with rust converter and re-applied new bedliner and it's good to go another six or seven years.

Not exactly a spray in bedliner

Would Recommend

Easy to apply. Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area. Clean the spot to be sprayed. Is not as thick as the rubberized original bed liner but covers well with no cleanup required. Does not give it a no slide rubberized texture but is fine for spot treatments.

Bed Liner Spray

Would Recommend

This product is "OUTSTANDING". The price @ Lowes beats all the places I've gone to. All the Auto Parts Store's are way to high. It really works well on a lot of project's that I've used it on. 1) Recoating an Old Wheel Barrel. 2)Covering the lettering on the mud flaps on my truck, which had the dealers Logo on them. 3) Painting the lower rock panel on the side's of the Dodge 1500 truck and preventing rock dings. 4) Painting the underneath the truck also it cover's rust well and stay's on. 5) Coa...
