What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this textured coating for its versatility across metal and outdoor applications—from truck beds to toolboxes, trailers, and lawn equipment. Most highlight excellent adhesion to clean surfaces, strong resistance to chipping and rust, and durability lasting years even under harsh conditions. Many appreciate the quick drying time and forgiving spray application that builds even finishes without runs. However, some report inconsistent spray performance, with certain cans failing to dispense or clogging mid-use. Despite these reliability issues, most customers find the product highly effective and worthwhile for diverse protective coating needs.

Would Not RecommendLowes was out of the pro grade and I needed more to finish the bed liner. This stuff is more like a flat black paint with a ton of overspray while you're paint. Its minimal compared to the rustoleum pro grade product which works great, covers more evenly and is thick texturing.
Nice look
Would RecommendEasy to use and looks good. Used it to coat a lawn cart. Hopefully it lasts.

Recent issue, but good product
Would RecommendI hhave been using this stuff to bedline some parts for my Jeep. I have gone through a ton of cans in the recent months. The only downside is that ive had to throw several out due to them not working. 3-4 would spray for a couple seconds and then stop. I attempted using different caps from cans that worked, but it did not help. My most recent purchase had a few cans that would spray but no liner would come out. It only did when I held the can upside down (which seemed odd to me). I ended up havi...

Good stuff
Would RecommendI use this stuff to protect rockers and plastics. It's also good for spraying on parts of homemade implements to protect them and keep rust away. Three is a fair amount of coating area from one can.

Would RecommendSprayed truck bed two coats works great it's been on truck for a month so far so good it's not a rhino hide or factory spray but works for me.it's a hard coat looks like it'll last for long time.

Great overall but for truck beds
Would RecommendThis product is great if you are trying to line tools and other small items. However, I tried to use it to patch a couple holes in my existing liner and it was a disaster. It corroded and raised the extisting liner around the patch and is not the thickness of a regular bed liner. It also doesn’t match a glossy liner finish.
Thank you for your feedback, Nick! Please keep in mind that Rust-Oleum Automotive Truck Bed Coating Spray does have a flat/matte finish so it will no... Read More

Truck bed textured spray paint
Would RecommendUsed on truck rails. Looks great . Would use again if needed.

Good product.
Would RecommendThis stuff is very easy to use and very forgiving if you spray too much and get runs. The texture really helps hide any mistakes. It covers really well and has a smoother, shinier finish than other bed liners. I used it on the fender flares of my truck and am very happy with the results. Time will tell how durable it is. Hopefully it holds up well.

Not worth it
Would Not RecommendI started with this on a trailer and ended up just buying roll on bed liner. The coverage sucks. I made one pass around the perimeter and got maybe 1/8 of the 4x8 trailer with one can. Did the math a 4X8 trailer would cost about $70 for a single, thin coat. I ended up rolling on restoleum 10x restore instead.
We understand your frustration. Each can of Rust-Oleum Automotive Truck Bed Coating Spray covers 15 to 20 square feet. To maximize the coverage, make... Read More

Paint works great
Would RecommendI used this paint on the cast iron bumper of my Jeep Wrangler that had been wrecked and recently and the paint worked great on it.

Good
Would RecommendWorks but slippery when wet. Only on brand new surfaces that have been scuffed and wiped with alcohol.

Worked like a charm
Would RecommendEasy to use and adheres well to our XJ's plastic bumper caps. Made her look 10x better; wish I would have done it years ago.
Use something else.
Would Not RecommendIf you don't care about the finished product then go ahead and get this stuff. But I used it on my Jeep fender flares and it looked awful no matter what I did. I've applied up to 5 coats and it was still blotchy and had lines and build up. I tried several different spraying techniques but realized it's never going to look good. I had to sand the entire surface of each piece and start again from scratch with a superior product. Save yourself the frustration.

great stuff
Would RecommendI recently purchased a 5x8 utility trailer from Lowes, and wanted to give it a protective layer that would not make the surface slippery. This product worked perfectly for my plan. I recently drove my riding mower on the wet trailer, and never slipped or spun a tire.
