Would RecommendI have purchased a lot of poplar 1x3 for cabinet faces. Lowes has some fair priced poplar - but you will spend a lot of time going through 12 boards just to get 2 or 3 that aren't beat up / warped / twisted / etc. Plan on spending some time there picking out your lumber. Most of it you can work with - but my Lowes doesn't do a good job keeping their lumber organized. Frankly I think that's why much of it is damaged - it's not stored correctly.

Would Not RecommendSad that I went through about 30 pieces of hardwood and could not find more then a couple of straight boards. Had to settle for the least warped pieces. Lowe’s “premium” woods are not very good.

Tough to Find Straight Boards
Would RecommendThe only gripe I have is that I have to go through a lot of boards to find ones that are not too bent, cupped, twisted or otherwise damaged. Often, I can't determine whether they are useful until I get them home and put them on my saw table for cutting. Last trip: out of 15 boards purchased, I had to return seven. At least Lowe's has a great return policy!

Bench Rebuild
Would RecommendThis is just one of the many boards I bought to rebuild a bench. Stronger than pine and less expensive than oak. Takes on a decent stain and is easy to work with. we used Poplar on two benches that were rebuilt.
