Would RecommendThe door chain was an easy install, just make sure to make pilot holes as the screws can split trim and can also strip. Other than that it looks good when installed, and while not a supreme security item, it does the job, you get what you pay for.
Kid proof your basement door
Would RecommendMounted on the inside of the basement door. Thus, it doesn't disfigure the door from the upstairs side. Allows the door to be opened enough to latch and unlatch, but, not wide enough for the kid to access the staircase and go splat. The package the product was in didn't have screws in it. I just used whatever I could find in my stash of screw supplies.

Would Not RecommendI bought this for an extra protection. I have door chain locks from other brands for years in other doors of the house and none of them has broken like this one. This morning I forgot the take the chain out and I opened the door and the chain just broken. I didn't even put force to open the door. I would imagine any intruder would have fun opening the door as well. I guess don't go cheap and feel extra secured.

About 3 weeks after installation, a relative of ours was coming over to our house and knocked on our door. My wife and I did not hear the knock, but my son did, and promptly unlocked our deadbolt, handle lock, and swung the door open!
