You get what you pay for

I have done one screen in my life, a few days ago, and so I had to buy a spline roller. As some have remarked, this tool wouldn’t be out of place at a Dollar Tree store, selling for a dollar— it’s that cheaply made. Weak and Cumbersome

This wore down very quick. The head around the roller was too fat so where our screen door had a raised area around where the spline goes, the roller could not reach into the spline groove. Cheap material and a bad design make this a waste of money.

Failed on First Use

Could not complete even one screen. The edges of the concave (grooved) roller shredded and flattened. Suggest you find a Seller who offers the type with steel rollers.Love shopping at Lowe's, but they should not offer this type of junk. Would give this a ZERO if I could.

Too flimsy

The plastic concave roller wore out about half way around a standard window screen - the edges peeled off, letting the roller slip to the side and mash the screen.

Cheap and uneven

The convex side of the tool works just fine for pushing in screens (albeit not very well on aluminum) and the concave side is terrible. The spline is strong enough to destroy the wheel not a single one spun straight out of the entire box at my lowes. I recommend spending the extra few dollars on the better product than watching this thing fall apart half way into one screen. Even more so, do not attempt to use this with aluminum screens or you will be buying another tool and a new screen.

There's a Reason More Expensive Ones are Offered

I tried to replace a screen door with a heavier screen, and this tool barely made it through the process. The plastic roller would slide off onto the screen itself and rip it; I thought maybe it was the heavier screen, so I bought a lighter screen. The roller still wouldn't do its work. So I used a screwdriver for part of the time, and then both hands on the plastic roller to finish up--but the roller itself got all beat up/damaged, and the handle threatened to break apart when I put my weigh...

Terrible "tool"

This thing was useless. I spent 10 minutes cleaning off the mold flashing before I even tried to use it. The wheels were not large enough diameter to even begin to seat any spline - the whole thing was wobbly. I tossed it in the trash and set the spline with a screwdriver. I did read the reviews before purchasing, but it was the only tool my local Lowes carried; there was no alternative. Lowes: the buyer who sourced this thing for your company should be forced to spend an eight hour day trying...

Junk.

This is cheap plastic, and it fell apart on the first screen. I will be returning to the store. The low price lured me in, but I would not buy another if it were half the price.

Cheap Junk

I wanted a wood handled, metal wheel roller but my local store did not have one. I have already thrown this cheap piece of junk across my garage against the wall. It is basically useless. I didn't get one spline in before the wheel was deformed and falling apart. Spend more and find a good tool for the job.

Incredibly Cheap

After using this product, I cannot recommend it. It is an incredibly cheap plastic tool that WILL NOT LAST beyond your repair and may not even last that long. The wheel is plastic, and subject to uneven pressure and failing. I guess you get what you pay for.

WORST thing I ever bought from Lowe's

This roller is aso flimsy and did not even last through my attempt to install a new screen. The roller compressed into a useless mess. Do not purchase this inferior item!

Don't buy

This is the only tool I could find in the screen section. The wheels wobble making it impossible to use. Ended up using a screwdriver to push the spline in. It worked a lot better.

Should be in a dollar bin

Expect to pay 10 times the mfg. cost for this toy-like, plastic tool. It works, just don't drop it or God-forbid step on it. Why buy it? Well, the weekend warrior doesn't have this necessary tool in their tool box so it is buy this or the much more expensive, wood and metal wood version. It should be in a dollar but it isn't because they know when people need one, they are likely going to have to buy one so price is whatever they want it to be. Only the navy color plastic keeps this looking like...

Cheap plastic

This is the only model available by Lowe's and it is made of cheap plastic. I went ahead and still tried it out before making a final decision on its quality, and it reaffirmed my first impression. It does not work even half as well as the traditional models (wood handle and steel rollers). Lowe's needs to offer more choices for the buyer; otherwise, others might make the same choice I did... I went to Home Depot and bought a good model there.

Get the metal / wood one instead

It's flimsy in comparison to a metal / wood one. Get that one instead.

its very cheap

I actually think the wheel is too thin. Takes quite few times before you can get the wheel to roll properly on the spline and get it gone. But even then, it has a tendency to lose it's track. If the wheel was a tad thicker, I think it would go on much easier.

Easy, inexpensive tool for replacing screens

This item was easy to use and helped make the job quick and easy. I was able to replace 6 screens in less than 2 hours.

Good enough

It's a plastic tool, so what can I say. I worked just fine. I expect when I need it again it will work fine then as well. Fit well in my hand.

Excellent Tool

Worked like a charm. Fixed my screen in less than 10 minutes.
