Paint, not stain

Lots of positive reviews look like they are from promotions. The base Minwax wood stain product is generally very good, but other reviews speaking of the tinted, nonstandard colors have the same problem I have. This is essentially a paint. This picture is after following the instructions (sand, clean, apply pre-stain, wait 15 minutes, apply this stain, wipe off after 5 minutes) three or four separate times over the course of a few days. Perfect stain tinted green

This stain turned out great for my Christmas project. Was able to stain my wooden Christmas tree green and it was a big hit.

Do NOT buy this product

There is no shine once it's dry and there is no semi-transparent look. This is more expensive and the finished look is just awful

Good color

Buy the pint size first

The suggested paint color was wrong, the pint size was out of stock so I was forced to buy the gallon. Total waste of $70.

Great Product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, the packaging. I love that metal clips are included to keep the lid securely on. Once opened, the smell was not too strong. I mixed the product and applied to the framing in the photo and it applied so smoothly. I let it dry overnight with one coat and that was the result. Coverage & color looks great. Easy to work with. Stirs easy with no lumps.

More like paint

Woodworkers beware This product is more like paint than stain. VERY LOW penetration even on soft wood. it will not soak into the heartwood on pine. We all know if we get oil based stain on our hands it soaks intot he skin and stays there for days. This wipes off with a rag. it will work for the project im using it on but would never buy again.

Perfect Wood Finish

It goes on so smoothly and dries pretty quickly. You get good coverage for the size of the container. The smell is bearable and not off-putting like other products.

Durable stain
