Ratings & Reviews for Kobalt 309 -Piece Metric and standard (SAE) Mechanics Tool Set with Hard Case
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the tool set for exceptional value and solid build quality, with most highlighting the comprehensive 309-piece selection as an outstanding deal. Reviewers consistently describe sockets, ratchets, and drivers as high quality, appreciating the full range of 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drives with color-coded metric and standard sizes. However, the storage case receives consistent criticism for poor latch design that breaks easily and fails to secure tools during transport. Several note missing deep sockets and extensions limit effectiveness for demanding tasks, though most agree the set covers basics well for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts. Overall, customers consider the tools themselves excellent despite storage and completeness concerns.

Would Not Recommendi bought basically this same set in the same style case except with plastic clasps about 5 years ago. Very rarely did that set ever lack something i needed and i did a lot with that set over 5 years. About a month ago my dad lost that tool set when it fell out of the back of his jeep (no idea how) so i saw this set and recognized that its essentially the same thing just an updated version right? I couldnt have been more wrong in that thinking. No spark plug sockets, no allen sockets, half the am...
Perfect for the RV
Would RecommendThe price of this tool set is almost too good to be true. The case is nice and the tools are good, heavy tools. This tool set is perfect for my motorhome.

Avoid / Too much filler (as in over 50% filler)
Would Not RecommendSadly, this set is not a set I can recommend to anyone. I give a star for the warranty and another star for the service at my local Lowes. I know no one buys a tool set for the case, but you should consider it when looking at this item. The case is rather large, heavy, and has horribly designed latches. The latches can and will fall off very easily so be careful how your store it. All the tools inside the case appeared to have some type of greasy smudge on them as if they were handled by someone...

Great amount for the price
Would RecommendJust picked this up today. Can't beat the amount of tools of 309 pieces. Includes 1/4in, 3/8in & 1/2in drives with sockets for all 3. Yeah the case could be more heavy duty as some of the allen wrenches don't completely stay put in their places. Aluminum latches feel solid tools feel solid. Looking forward to using these tools.
