Overall I really like the time-saving aspect of this particular tool. Drilling many pilot holes with a built-in countersink — and then the added bonus of having the driver right there is really convenient and saves lots of time. However, the hex-sided insert (which holds both the driver and drill) doesn't always line-up with the socket it rests in. Perhaps this misalignment is caused by sloppy/cheap manufacturing? Net effect is — flipping the tool around in its socket is a chore, and more often ...

Broke the first time I used it.

Idea is good and the design is great but it didn't last through the second hole.

I have purchased two of these but when the pilot bit breaks you can't get replacement bits at either the store or online. You have to buy a complete tool. I called the warranty and parts service number and the lady I spoke to said that this tool is no longer made and has been discontinued yet the local store has a bunch of them in stock and two reviews here have purchased the tool in August, 2013. She also indicated they had never carried the replacement pilot bit which I find hard to believe. B...

drill bit/screw driver combo

I like this product for its ease of use during assembly of projects. If you need a pilot hole and or a counter sink before a screw the one end does the job. Then switch over to the screw driver and drive your screw home. no need to remove a bit and mount a screwdriver bit. It's all in one. The 7/64 is for small work and there are other larger sizes for larger screws. It fits right on your drill chuck and the drill bits can be replaced.

Very nice for general woodworking. #8 screws are popular for most projects and being able to quickly switch from countersink to driver head greatly speeds up assembly.

Yes, my bit broke too but...

I quickly replaced it with a standard bit out of my set and it worked fine. The drill bit they used out of the package is cheap and brittle. I use this all the time though and it makes screw joinery easy and efficient. Most of the time I just use it as a driver when I'm putting in screws.

Good Idea, Poor Execution

The Drill and Driver with #8 Countersink is a great concept. What a timesaver, when it works! However, if the drill bit breaks the first time it's used, the tool is useless. The drill bit broke the first time I used it! I was drilling holes into flower boxes (relatively soft wood), so I was pretty shocked when the drill bit broke off in the wood. No way to dislodge it. This is the very best tool for drilling and driving wood screws that I have ever found. I have been using it for a couple of years. Now I have goofed and mis placed the insert section of this fool. Got to go back and see if I can buy this part alone or do I have to buy the whole thing ??????????????????????...BILL..............
