These bits work faster than any paddle bit. I'm an electrician and I carry the 3/4" bit in my tool belt. This bit will drill through 2 depths of 2x6 smoothly and quickly with my impactor.

Shank broke the first time it was used

I bought this set at Lowes, and tried to use it for the first time today. I needed to use the 1 1/4" bit. The very first time I tried to use it, the shank broke. I'll be returning the whole set.

I like them

Product works very well and stays sharp. I like the fact that bits will work in a drill (I use dewalt) and also attach in my impact. I have got use to using the smaller dewalt impact in most every job situations.

Quick holes

The tip of these help make fast work of holes. You can tell when the tip is through. After that its still not bad. The box is nice too.

Nice little case of drill bits

The case broke almost right after I got the set - the hinge broke. One of the bits ends broke where it fits into the drill. I couldn't find my receipt but I took it back to Lowe's after a couple months of owning it and they wouldn't give me my money back, grant a store credit nor replace it for me. THAT is NOT COOL. We spend hundreds of dollars at Lowe's as we are in the process of building a house.

Drilled cleanly through metal/wood sofit.

I used these to drill conduit holes through my sofit. The pilot drill tip was invaluable, and the outer cutting tips kept the sheet metal from curling under the bit. Finished with clean edges. The length was useful for drilling through the 1 inch board behind the sofit. Also the hex shank ensured the bit didn't slip and could be changed quickly. Well worth the money to buy the full set.

Just what I needed.

Quick and clean - even cut through a nail. Threaded point pulled bit right through the large timber I was drilling. Buying the set was a money saver.

Larger bits work well with 1/4" impact driver

Well packaged

Great bit set, has what you would need following a good drill bit index. These will power through wood and the small screw tip is excellent at setting and keeping center. Because of the screw tip you will go over an inch into the wood in a moment, wow watch out! If you are in hard wood then expect to put some weight into it, but hey thats why i eat.

Great Drills

I purchased these drills to chew through the studs, ceiling joists and headers to run the electrical service in my shop. They are great - single, double or triple 2x4s or 2x6s - they haven't slowed down. They also are great at cleaning the hole as it is drilled. I can only hope that they hold the sharp edge for the rest of the project. They have done GREAAAAAAAAAAAAT so far. Wish I had purchased them before. Fastest Hole Boring I've Used

I was running electrical wiring, and needed something to drill holes through studs. These looked a little more robust and easier to use than the standard paddle bit. I've been very pleased with how well these have worked. My notes thus far: The flutes are sharp. They cut through hard woods quickly and fairly cleanly. There's been much less splintering on the back of the hole than I normally get with paddle bits. You have to keep the speed up to get the clean cut, though. This can be hard due to...

This Irwin Speed Bore set is possibly the best drill accessory I've ever purchased. If you aren't an expert, be sure to use a hole depth guide on your drill or you'll be completely through your board before you know it.

Use a Powerful Drill

These bits are not designed for average consumer drills of less than 3.5 Amps. With a consumer drill, these bits often get stuck in wood and you may waste a lot of time trying to get your bit back out of the wood. It doesn't matter if it is the smallest or largest bit. To use these bits, you need a Professional Drill that has plenty of HP, then you can save a lot of time. If you have a consumer household drill, save your money and get traditional flat bits.
