Wouldn't strip 18 gauge wire

I bought these specifically to retrofit 33 fluorescent fixtures with LED bulbs. Wouldn't strip 18 gauge wire, adjusted tension to tightest setting, that didn't help. Borrowed a pair of who knows how old GardnerBender automatic strippers and they worked good. Wouldn't buy these if you plan on retrofitting fluorescent fixtures to led.

Best wire stripper

I purchased the Irwin Wise-grip Automatic Wire Stripper primarily for stripping wires. This is easily the best set of wire strippers I have ever used. There has never been an issue with wires slipping or damage to the copper wires themselves. I have stripped several wires at the same time with perfect results. I have never stripped wire so quickly. The wire cutter however leaves a lot to be desired. Although it does cut, it smashed the wires. I have old arthritic hands and found to crimpe...

Don' buy other wire strippers, this is the BEST!

Best wire stripers on the market. They work extremely well. The other stripper on the market do not even come close to the quality of this tool. Other brands look the same but most are lesser quality junk. The other wire stripper that have a completely different design are also not better. I have also tried every other different designed wire striper on the marker and these are the best.

Works better than expected

It stripped my patience and not much else.

I'm in the same boat as a few other reviewers. Won't grab/hold wire one side, and won't strip it on the other. I feel like I already knew that something like this was way too good to be true. If it wasn't, I'd have met a low voltage technician, or an electrician, that had used something similar. 15 years in, and I haven't met that person yet. (Oh, and btw, I AM a low voltage tech, so what's that tell you?)

Does not work

The tool stripped the romex casing, but the coating on the wire it was useless. I figured I was doing something wrong so I watch multiple videos and I was using the tool correctly. It did not work as advertised. I do not recommend this. I returned it.

Strippers that don't strip

I bought these because it's such a pain to strip wire. With high hopes, I went to work with these. All they do is slip, not strip. I tried several gauges, and they don't grip the wire enough to strip the insulation off. Will be returning them.

Just don’t work

Bought these Irwin/Stanley strippers based on the name. Got them home, and they just don’t strip anything. Returned them. Took a piece of wire with me and tried all the ones hanging on the rack in the store, and only one would intermittently strip the wire, all the rest failed. Bought the one by Klein at HD, and it seems to work consistently.

JUNK!

Even with it adjusted as tight as possible, it still just pulls the wire through the jaw without stripping. I'll be returning this one.

Fail

This thing may work for others. For me, using 12 ga THHN, it did not strip. End of story.

tested bought 2 thinking could use one at house one in second home both could not strip 14 gage stranded wire or solid both could not strip 22-4 wire

Mediocre

Failed to strip most wiring I threw at it. Coworkers compared it to Klein and we conclude these are mediocre.

Wire Stripper

Product works as advertised. Small gauge wire slips through the gripping side if you are trying to strip the wire a second time to take just a little more insulation off after stripping the wire a first time.
