Will not strip 22 AWG wire

Will not strip 22 AWG wire. Tension adjusted to maximum setting and still does not perform, simply mars and damages the insulation around the wire. Don't purchase this tool if you are using small gauge wire. I contacted IRWIN for a replacement just to make sure it wasn't my specific tool and they required a proof of purchase and a photo of the tool. Why isn't the photo enough proof? No replacement tool provided, and no further correspondence from Irwin for a month now.

Doesn’t work correctly

It doesn’t hold the wire very good and when it starts stripping, it doesn’t grab and cut until it’s at the end, or it only cuts a little. I always have to get a different wire cutter to do the job.

From xmas smile to a frown

A friend of mine had a smiliar product and I loved it. He remembered that from 4 months earlier and got me the Irwin model for a xmas gift. Sorry to say the Irwin product was no match would not strip thinner guaged wire, 14 or 12 guage wire, you had to hold the top of the grip to make it strip.

Best wire stripper ever!

One of my favorite tools! I recently moved and found the yellow plastic piece fell off, or a piece of it. How do I get a replacement yellow piece? Thanks!

Does not work. Could not get it to grip or strip any wire.

these are junk the set i got at harbor freight are way better for 1/2 the price...

Jaws won't grip 14g wire

Even with the tension dial all the way turned to positive the wire slips out of the jaws. I have to put my thumb on the top of the jaws to strip 14g wire.

A good, reliable tool

An affordable, reliable tool that helps me with automotive and residential electrical work. Reliable for the past three and a half years. The adjustment screw must be properly adjusted for a good quality job and the mechanism must be kept clean. Typically good quality and affordable price like my other Irwin tools.

Meh

Got this as a gift and was excited, but the wire seems to slip most of the time or just bunch up the clear coating on the insulation. Frustrating.

Doesn’t work correctly. The cable slips 9 times out of 10. Sturdy handle and good ergonomics but don’t do the task that needs to be done.

Does not work.

I bought this about a year ago. barely used it at all. I just wont hold the wire in place on the left side. ( the multi tooth jaw). The jaw is very sloppy on the pin. Too much movement.

Same issue as others

They worked awesome for about a week. After about a week of use it stopped stripping the wire fully. It would just shave off the insulation a bit. It would take 3-5 try’s to finally fully strip the wire. Tried adjusting the jaws, no luck. I was hoping for a quality product being from Irving…I went to exchange but Lowe’s was out. So I just returned them and purchased a pair of Klein tools ones.

I bought my set of strippers about 4 years ago. I do use them quite often. Well I finally wore the springs out. I am looking for a replacement.

Fits perfect in my hand. At first it didn't seem to want to cut unless you held the wire against the back. So I went and bought the Klein as well for a back up in case. I prefer these over Klein. Don't know what happened, but they started to cutting and I have cut 40 feet of wire so far and with my left over wire I still play around with testing it. Very happy so far! Must of needed operated a few times as nothing was loose. Also it cuts nice with minimum marks on the wire coating. Ident...
