Just what I needed

I was replacing a light fixture and found that there was no electric box in the ceiling to stack my light to. So this was the perfect solution. Cut a 4” hole inserted the wires through the box, inserted the box through the hole and attached the box to the arms. Easy to center it. Holds lots of weight but I just needed an easy way to get a box up there without crawling around the attic. Worked well!

Ceiling Fan

My electrician used this to install my ceiling lights that did not have a pre existing box on the ceiling.

Cannot use on sloped ceilings

The box does not tighten to the bar enough to where it can't twist resulting in it wanting to twist on the bar and rest against the ceiling (sloped ceiling). I get it, the bar is solid, the box will never fall, but I don't like after no matter how tight you screw the box to the bracket around the bar, it can still twist. I bought another box by the same company that went straight into the rafter and it worked perfectly. Even for a flat ceiling, I don't like how the box can still twist - will not...

Worked like a charm!

Easily used to replace an existing plastic light box so that I could install a ceiling fan. Was the easiest part of the project!

It works but could be better

The old work box works but it could be better. Couple of ideas: (1) make the shaft that extends and anchors it to the ceiling joists with edges (its round and slippery). (2) Make the pieces that grip the wood Joists so that they work with engineered joists (wood I-Joist) flanges (these are expecting 2-by wood ceiling joists with no flanges).

Changing a light to a ceiling fan and didn't want to tear the ceiling apart anymore than it was. This did the trick. Put it through the existing hole, lined it up, and twisted the rod tight. Lined the box with the hole in the ceiling and wired up the fan. Made a complicated job simple.

Works great, just as described

It does what it's supposed to. You have to tighten the set screw to prevent tilt, and installation appeared to be fairly simple.

Quick and easy

This product made installing a ceiling fan where previously there was none quick and easy. I wondered about the strength but all doubts were gone after I installed it and pulled down on it. It wouldn't budge. Installed the fan and no wobble on any speed. Great product!

Good product for difficult job

This product works as described. As expected I did have to remove the old ceiling box. This was the slowest part of the job working through a 4" hole in the ceiling. The people who rated it low did not follow the directions or lacked any mechanical ability. The "C" mounting is stamped for proper installation direction; if you don't it will block the cable hole. The clamping pressure that this device will apply between the ceiling joists is very good, again, if you follow the clear direction...
