Works as well as the more expensive synthetic felt
Would RecommendWorks as well as the more expensive synthetic felt. Put it on the roof as underlayment put your shingles over it. Grip Rite has always put out a good product and this is no different. Covers approximately 10 squares, a lot less hassle than the old 15# felt paper. My roofers really like it better and Lowes seems to have it in stock most of the time.

Why use black paper
Would RecommendLove using synthetic paper. Have not used black paper for years. On new construction we no longer have water coming in. We no longer have wind tearing off paper and we no longer have the rain and sun causing paper to swell and have big bubbles. Bottom line. Use this synthetic paper.
