What Customers Are Saying
The deck screws are generally durable and easy to use, with a star-drive design that prevents stripping and allows for easier installation. Most customers are satisfied with the screws' strong holding power and performance for outdoor wood projects. However, some users reported issues with thread quality, difficulty countersinking, and inconsistent quality between batches. While a small percentage experienced problems, the positive reviews suggest these are generally high-quality and well-performing screws for most applications.

Best screws!!
Would RecommendThese are the only style screw we use anymore- we have had great success with being able to reuse them if we decide to disassemble a project.
Grip-Rite or Grip Wrong
Would RecommendI love these screws - the star head will not strip out like the cheap tin-horn phillips head screws; the polymer coat prevents rust (I left some in water for days and no rust); BUT, they seem to strip out in some wood. Not the head but the threads. I don't know if it is the wood or the threads. I have learned to be careful when tightening.
Deck screws
Would RecommendThese screws were right for my building a deck and fence .What I like most about this item is the screw head grip.
Polymer Coated Star Drive Deck Screws
Would RecommendThese are great screws when used for their INTENDED purpose, which is raw wood such as fence slats and deck boards, and the ONLY type of screw that will hold up to treated wood (other than stainless). To the one reviewer complaining that he had to center-punch and/or drill into plywood, these screws are NOT INTENDED for plywood. There is a better screw for interior plywood such as Flat-Head Yellow Zinc Self-Drilling Interior Wood Screws, or other similar skinny screws. Yes folks, at this poin...
Great Product
Would RecommendI LOVE these deck screws! The torx (star) head is much less likely to strip out than a Phillips head. The end of the screw has a small cut that drills out the hole as the screw goes in, which reduces splits to almost none. There are small features on the underside of the head that displace the wood allowing the head to countersink without splitting the wood. They are SO easy to use too. I used the bit that came with the screws in a magnetic holder on my drill. I was removing the old decking that...

great for any exterior work.
Would RecommendGood, but not great...
Would RecommendI ran out of 1-5/8" screws so I ran down to lowes and bought a box. Not really paying attention until I got home first thing I realized was my torx bit I was using wouldn't fit??? So I look at the box and see that the ones Lowes carries only uses a T20, whereas the line that HD carries uses a T25... Something like that might not seem a big deal, but when driving in different lengths of screws for a project it's nice not having to change your bit every other screw. Looking closer I also noticed t...

No fear of stripping a screw with these screws
Would RecommendWith the "star-drive" screw they will NEVER break loose from the bit until they are where you want them.

Screws are ok except...
Would RecommendScrews are ok except some of them have excess coating in the star-drive head so that they are unusable. Probably 1 in 20 have this issue.

Makes fastening easy
Would RecommendI'm using these instead of nails on OSB siding. I have an old injury that make hammering difficult. I am vey pleased with the self driving feature and the star drive requires less pressure to prevent stripping the head out like Phillips drives.
