Ceiling frame must be replaced.
Would RecommendThis is exact replacement for First Alert device but it will not connect to existing ceiling frame and must be replaced with the one provided. The wire connecter is fine.

False alerts galore
Would Not RecommendOut of the 6 units, 3 have given false alerts in the first 2 months. All of them in the middle of the night. Junk.

Quick replacement for failing original
Would RecommendProduct works fine. Even though it looked to be a direct replacement for original BRK since house was new, I had to replace the original bracket with the new bracket. They look identical, but just slightly different in size. Didn't need to use the new wiring (old wiring plugged in fine). The original lasted almost 20 years.
