Larger Project TimberTech Clip

We bought this larger pack of clips for our TimberTech boards. These are a bit more time consuming than the Trex options, but this type is what was specified for TimberTech composite boards.

Metal is Preferred Over Plastic

I'm sure the manufacturers have developed a reasonable formula for the plastic hidden fasteners, but most plastics degrade with thermal cycling and UV exposure, so I'd rather use the metal clips for assured strength and longevity. not sure why so many people have issues installing these, with level joists and attention to the fastener installation, these install just fine. The set could include some extra screws, the ones included are a little tough to find replacements for.

Excellent product

I used these clips on a recent 12x12 deck at my Hawaii vacation home. I needed to replace a rotting outdoor pool deck and these were the perfect way to keep potentially hot metal screws from the deck surface and result in a fantastic look.

Hide well

Hard to use with joist tape. Ended up having to bend the tab up for the next board.

The clips worked well. Just line them up nicely and give the head of the screw a small tap to start it. Had no problem getting the next board to start into the previous board. The screws are cheap and bend easily and often strip. The stripping screws are frustrating. First time I used Trex boards so I can’t compare the clips to others because I haven’t tried them. My gaps were consistent throughout the project. For the price they should have better screws.

Screws are poor quality.

Overall, the clips are fine. The screws are very poor quality. I had a few heads break off before the screw was driven home and several stripped. I wouldn’t expect this with a square drive screw.

Good product

Easy to use but i would likely go with trex brand fasteners in future to simplify the work.

A must for deck built up

Well made clips. If they last more than 5 years they are worth. I would prefer to have the option to select the type of clip instead of having already a mix, but their installation was easy.

Black, clips are very strong and remain like new after being installed for a year. Multiple drill tips are included

Not at all like the Trex fastners

I bought these because it could be used with Trex boards. They were cheaper and had enough in one package to finish my deck. They don’t gap as much as the Trex fastners and you have to raise the boards up to insert into the slots in the boards. My deck is attached to my house and goes under a bay. The Trex fasteners are easier to use although you see them between the boards.

Great clips

Purchased these at Show Low Lowe's for my large (1700 sq ft) deck in Flagstaff. Took a bit of getting used to and found with our 16 ft Trex deck boards, installation pretty much requires two people, one at each end of the board. Tilting the board and jamming it into the clips on the count of 3 engaged it well enough so that tapping with a rubber mallet finished seating it in the clips. Worked great, would definitely use again

I bought these on the recommendation of the pro desk for my Trex Enhanced project. They're a little cumbersome and your thumb will definitely get sore from holding the clip in place as you drive it but they worked great. Not sure about all the complaints about them stripping easy in the reviews because I didn't run into that at all. Maybe people need to learn to hold their drivers straight because torx heads are super strong but not forgiving if you aren't square with the bit. I did find that T...
