I needed a heat cord to protect a 3-foot hydrant (that doesn't drain properly) during very cold weather. I thought this would be similar to the old-style heat tapes that simply wrapped around a pipe. It is not. The installation instructions are very specific and do not allow wrapping or overlapping. They also require insulation around the product once it is installed. It would have been better if Lowes had a 3-foot version, but they did not and I needed it immediately. I made it work, but did no...
