Ive had this for a few years. Due to a mid-size workshop that i perform various trades ....as a homeowner, neighborhood handyman, and grandpa's workshop. I tend to keep more portable tools for using more often than other tools. But i can say that this has been a very useful tool for those smaller to mid-sized projects.

I debark pine logs with it...

I actually use this tool to debark pine logs where I used a draw knife prior, and this tool makes it by far much faster, cleaner, and I can actually shape the log much easier! I do go through the cutter blades though, but well worth it!

one Huge problem

the dial is not accurate, other than that, it will rip some material. the Biggest issue is that lowes does not carry the blades for replacement. have to order online, which is a huge disappointment.

Nice tool, BUT

No dust collection! How on Earth Dewalt omitted this crucial component is beyond me. Buy something else.

Adjustable depth doesn't work

This is a great addition to the shop

I had my eye on this for a long time this is good for minute woodworking projects where you need to level warped boards in a hurry

Works but makes a lot of chips

It works. Make a ton of chips, side outlet clogs regularly. Due to its shape, hard to attach a vacuum hose. On the “zero” position, it’s still cutting .010” or so, be aware of that. Did save me a lot of sanding time, but you still have to sand. Occasional chip out also. Practicing on a scrap of wood highly recommended.

Inconvenient trigger lock.

The trigger lock is poorly placed and too easy to engage. As a planer, this works very well, but from time to time, I find it continues to run when I let go, since I've accidentally engaged the lock.

Could've scored it higher, but have to be honest.

Pros: It's powerful & loud. The rip fence is simple & sturdy. The handle is comfortable. It's great for removing lots of material quickly & easily, like a scrub plane without the muscle fatigue. Cons: The adjustment of zero is not accurate at all. The blades are not parallel to the shoe so it leaves a step on the left side of the stock. The exhaust is right side only. The air intake on the right side inhales the chips. The rip fence is not reversible. The knob on the end of the plug is round ...

Great planer

Used this to plane down 2x6 pine and it worked great and never seemed to lack power.

Planner

Got the cord because of RPM’s. Do not regret that decision. After a few test runs it is doing all that I expected. Handy and take a the place of my planner on many jobs.

purchased as new and opened to find used

Purchased from Lowes as new and opened to find it was heavily used. It was NOT sold as open box. Returned it.
