Black stains on fence posts
Would Not RecommendThis product looks very nice when first placed on top of the fence post, however, after it rained, the top of the fence post and down on to the fence were stained mildly black with streaks. I would have thought this product would have been way better built, very disappointing and now my fence tops and posts look awful. Would not recommend

Perfect for fence posts that are nominal 4X4.
Would RecommendI used construction adhesive with a caulking gun to bond these to the top of cedar fence posts. (It's called following their instructions). Fit fine with slight overlap. Some were very tight fits due to the adjacent vertical slats of the fence, and I used duct tape to hold firmly in place overnight. Not a fault of the cap, but the tight fit of the fence slats. Looks great, and preferred not to use one that required screws or other ways to hold onto post.

Would RecommendThese post caps give your project that finished look at an inexpensive price. Not only do they protect the post end grain from water and birds, they are visually appealing. I have had them on posts for over 2 years, they show no signs of weathering. Excellent product.
Too big
Would Not RecommendThese look nice but because they simply sit on top of the post, a few strong winds have blown all of our caps off!! There is no hole on the side to screw it’s in place, would be ideal to do this bc they are so much bigger than a 4x4 post. We haven’t glued them on yet, but are looking for something we can use hardware to really secure it.

Lots of room for improvement
Would Not RecommendThis is a simple device with an important purpose. However it seems no thought went into the design of the cap. I permanently glued them on using construction adhesive. The caps are still stuck, for now. I would rather have had a method to fasten the cap to a post with a self sealing rust free fastener of some kind (SS or Brass for example). In this way the cap could have been removed and reused. Finally the caps are for rough cut 4X4's (actually 4"x4") and are too big, but work adequately for 4...
