Would RecommendI replaced my back porch steps, railings, and 4x4 posts. I used these caps on the 4x4s for a nice finished look, and to keep water from seeping into the posts. They are just a tad larger than 3½x3½ so you'll need some adhesive or glue to secure them to the post. They don't snap on the post.

They're too big to fit standard 4x4 posts
Would Not RecommendThese measure 3.75”x3.75” , an extra 1/4” in both directions over the 3.5" of a standard 4x4 post. Even though the packaging says to use construction adhesive to secure them, that still leaves 1/8" on all sides to fill with adhesive? That doesn't seem like the best way to attach. I'll be returning these and finding some that don't float over top of the post
