Gel vs Liquid

Normally I would use the liquid Weldwood. I decided this time to use the gel because I saw it being used on you tube and it appeared to be easier. I found that it was not as easy as the liquid and I believe I used more of the gel than I would have the liquid. Bottom line, I will use the liquid next time.

Ventilate and use a good fume respirator.

First time with the gel product. Appeared to do the job.

Awesome stuff

Always liked weldwood contact cement but this new gel is even better for uneven surfaces.

Worked very well

It worked very well with the Formica laminate that I cemented to a 3/4" piece of sanded ply to make and out-feed table for my new Table Saw. You'll want to wear a mask an organic vapor filter cartridges and do this outside. Weldwood does make a water base product but it wasn't at Lowes when I was looking for it. Very happy with the results.

Good stuff

Applies well with a brush, foam brush somewhat wimpy. Like it better than original which I cannot get over three ounces in California.

Works perfect, but be ready!

Be ready for the smell. This stuff will get a gas huffer high. I work in construction and to this day its the strongest smelling adhesive ive ever used. Be prepared.

Better than spray cement for smaller projects

Went on well with mini foam roller. Even at 20°F below recommended ambient temperature. Clean up was fair using recommended mineral spirits. (It gummed up and released instead of dissolving like when using lacquer thinner)

Works Great on Leather!

I do custom leatherwork and use Weldwood Gel when gluing up pieces for assembly. Works better than regular formula Weldwood or the other white glue based adhesives.

Contact cement for beginners??

I had not done Formica counters for years so I watched a lot of videos and decided that the original, runny format would be too hard for an amateur. I didn't have the work area for something that could drip or spill so easily. I also completed my work in small increments and did not want to throw away a roller and roller pan every time. Very Easy to Use - Solid Hold

The smell is a bit strong in a confined area. But if used according to directions, this stuff holds solid.
