Arcing and keypad issues

We're having the same issue as many others. We moved into a house where this new unit had been installed, and within a month arcing has started in the same spots (the back corners) -- I assume from the wheels rubbing paint off, and the keypad has been shorting out which requires resetting the breaker. We've stopped using it due to fire risk.

Good microwave when it works

The microwave feature set and functionality is great. The quality of the product is lacking for the price point. The drawer operation failed after 4 months of use and the entire microwave was replaced by GE after the 3rd service call.

Great Microwave with Issues

We love the oven, the touch control and ease of operation. Two months into the use of the new oven, the door started getting stuck, sometimes it opens in a bit, other times I need to put a hand to open it. We reached out to a service partner, to learn that this is a known issue and a part needs to be replaced. The part is back ordered for few weeks now, and we are unable to find a replacement. Sparkinh!!!

Sparking and electrical issues! My microwave just developed a black burn spot in the back left corner du to the wheels rolling and scratching it. This is unacceptable and a major safety hazard! So disappointing as I have all GE cafe appliances.

Sparking Microwave!

Our microwave was delivered on May 28, 2024 and we did not install it for several months because we were renovating. Just a few months after installation, in January 2025, the motherboard failed and needed to be replaced. Now (February 2026), the microwave is sparking in the inner left corner. Do not buy

The microwave cavity paint chipped off after 2 years of purchasing, exposing metal and causing sparks. This a serious fire risk. Do not buy!

Don’t buy!

I regret this purchase. Have had it less than 2 years and the door motor has failed twice. Currently not working and can’t get warranty service. Have had two service appts with 8-5 windows and both times no shows! Don’t buy!

DO NOT BUY! As all other reviews stated...14 months in and it sparks due to the faulty wheels. So beyond frustrating! We spent over $15K in GE cafe appliances to have them all match and could not be more disappointed!

Poor quality! 2.5 years and now sparks

We've had this microwave for 2.5 years. Loved the design and features but now 2.5 years in and the microwave is sparking! Looking at the reviews, it seems to be a common issue.

takes patience and tenacity

this is the second defective unit in a row. the melt butter setting will ruin the unit. dont use that setting.

Looks nice, doesn’t last long

Mine only lasted a year and half. That’s not a lot of use for what we paid. Looks nice but does not last .

lousy microwave

the microwave was installed in a lower cabinet space as most are these days. the display doesn't turn upward so you are forced to squat down to se the controls. the heat on the microwave doesn't compare to most. takes twice as long to heat things relative to my prior microwave

After 18 months, my microwave is sparking!

Like many reviews, my unit started sparking in the back right corner due to the wheel rubbing off the interior coating. I’ve had this unit for 18 months, so the warranty has expired and I’m forced to buy a new microwave. I’ve never had any issues with GE appliances until this. Help!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This microwave has been installed for a year with moderate use and is arcing. The microwave is clean and food is covered during use. The right-side wheel of the drawer mechanism is out of alignment and has scraped the interior, causing the arcing. This is a common issue with the microwave, based on other reviews of this appliance. Is there a remedy from GE? Has anyone had any luck with repairs?

Sparking

This microwave is sparking after less than two years of use. Just as other reviewers have mentioned, this is clearly a design flaw, safety harzard, and defect which should be remedied by Cafe. At this point, the company will be facing a class action lawsuit if this product is not recalled and this issue resolved for the many dissatisfied customers.
