Would Not RecommendI thought this was a great design, but after actual use, I'm consistently having WET mail! It also acts as a nice scoop for the plow guy to catch on when he's plowing slush and you will find your mail box about 10' back in the woods!
Great sturdy mailbox.
After our box was vandalized this one seemed to be the answer for longevity. Easy to mount and the magnetic closure should stand the rest of time. If they come with a bat the only thing I’ll be replacing is a few screw and the wooden base. Fairly large also.
Very good mailbox, sturdy heavy gauge material. Strong maganet holds the door shut. Took my time with installation, looks good.
Indestructible?
I was in search of a good quality mailbox due to frequent vandals destroying mine. This one claims to be indestructible, with a picture of a bat breaking over the mailbox, but after 5 short days there are 3 dents in the top. So not exactly indestructible :(
Not exactly as advertised -
The box sez ' Large '. I'd say ' not really '. The critical dimension for me was a base width of 7 7/8" . . which was advertised . . but which turned out to be 7" only. Apparently the ' width ' advertised included the flag ? The pivot point of the flag is a nylon(?) bushing which is a tad ' taller ' than the width of the flag thickness and required sanding down in order for the flag to remain upright. Battleship strong
Would RecommendI have had this mailbox for several years it has taken direct hits from at least 5 cars moving at 50 mph or more. Snow plow hits it every winter at least a few times. I have replaced the post several times,but not the box. If you are sick of replacing those cheep boxs this one is for you..

Would RecommendMy only complaint is that it's made in Taiwan. Other than that... it's well made, has a nice a nice powder coat finish and stands up to the snow plows hurling snow at it. As for the comment about no flag instructions... Lol, he should have maybe looked at the bottom of the box!

Would Not RecommendOnly had mailbox for a week and it leaks every time it rains(mail gets soaked)! Called the customer support number off the box and they were rude and didn't care. They said it was not there problem and that I put the flag on wrong. The box didn't come with instructions but there was only one way for the flag to go on the mailbox.

Would RecommendI thoroughly researched this product and decided on the "Ironsides" version of this mailbox versus the standard size "Tuff Body" made by the same manufacturer. Whether it was Lowes mistake or Gilbraltar the measurements were not accurate. Still uncertain if it possibly was mispackaged or a stocking mistake but regardless in the end I mounted the box I was given from Lowes. Still would like to have had the larger version but time was of the essence and mine needed replaced quickly.
