According to the manufacturer that's "not a manufacturer defect". "It's a shipping defect" which they don't stand behind. The mailbox was in their packaging which has no extra spacing. Would RecommendLiked: heavy material, size, glossy. Disliked: box picture, user guide, and online details did not match up. Cheap aluminum type screws broke, box picture did not show uses rubber stoppers to lift off post, mailbox not sealed on inside as had two square holes in back, and as lifted off the post, two circular holes in bottom would allow insects in.
