Definitely overkill
Would RecommendI used this on a shed. I kinda of went overkill on everything and really didn't need double the material that the thinner paper offered. I believe that the roof of it will probably never need new paper...at least in my lifetime.

Roof Underlayment as Deck “Seal”
Would RecommendI continue to use this 30# roof underlayment paper under deck boards, on top of the Severe Weather treated 2”x8” joists. It creates a nice seal and I believe it makes the joists last longer.
