What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the compact, short profile for fitting tight spaces like crawl spaces and under counters, with side connections enabling easier installation in confined areas. Most report quick, straightforward installation in under an hour and consistent hot water output for daily household needs. Many highlight strong value compared to alternatives and note pre-cut insulation improved efficiency. A small number experienced early defects including leaking valves and thermostat issues, though most users find the combination of space-saving design, ease of setup, and reliable performance highly satisfactory.

This is second water heater same brand less 1 yr
Would Not RecommendFirst tank leaking after less than year of use. New one bought packaged incorrectly, heating element came broken when removed to replace bent, burned out, arching out of the box. Not sure if the store boxed incorrectly or if it was boxed wrong to begin with a quality issue. Hopefully this tank will not leak in a few months. Not sure I would ever buy product in the future if this is how it will preform. Usually looking for years out out of water tank not days or months.

Would RecommendOnline price was great, installation was easy AND it included extra, exterior insulation for the heater and a bit of the pipe. In store, the same model but with top pipe connections rather than side, sold for $670. This one, same spec.s and size (only difference is side connections) sold for $400.

Hot Water Smells Terrible
Would Not RecommendI installed this A O Smith Lowboy water heater less than one year ago and it was fine for several months but then the hot water started to smell like garbage. Plumber said it was likely a faulty anode but when I reported the matter to A O Smith, their customer service rep advised it was the fault of quality of water to my 100 unit condominium complex but they could sell me another anode that might resolve the smell. My problem is that the plumber wants a few hundred just to remove the heater ...

Lowes post a comment, but its not visible
Would Not RecommendLowes product or merchandise: If you purchase a hot water heater from Lowes, you should be able to return it there. From what I’ve read: problem apparently is the thermostat. Two times now no hot water!!! Less than 1 year old and to date had to hit the reset button within 2 weeks apart.
The reset button on this water heater usually trips because of a grounded heating element. Heating elements can be replaced, so the entire water heat... Read More
No hot water, keeps tripping
Would Not RecommendPurchased this lowboy due to tight space. Now the heater keeps shutting off, leaving me with no hot water until I hit the reset button. Purchased at Lowe’s but now I read: Do not Return to the store where purchased. How inconvenient.
A tripping reset on a new heater is likely due to an element which has been dry fired, and is grounded. The element can be replaced to resolve the is... Read More
Compact size
Would RecommendI love the idea but it doesn't heat very much water. I believe an element may be bad. My husband is going to check it.

Too small even for one person
Would Not RecommendI couldn't get one shower out of this heater and I have a low flow shower head. It is only 120volt so it takes a long time to heat up after I shower. It is probably good for a laundry and hand washing. Not good for a whole house
This heater is rated for 240-volts. Operating this unit on 120-volts will result in poor operation and decreased recovery. With a fully heated tank... Read More
