What Customers Are Saying
Customers praise the brass fitting and repair mechanism for effectiveness and simplicity, with most noting the process is straightforward using basic tools like scissors and a screwdriver. Many describe successful repairs on soaker hoses and commercial applications. However, a significant portion report serious problems with the included hose clamps, which frequently fail to seal, strip during tightening, or prove too weak to hold pressure. Despite clamp frustrations, most customers consider the core repair function reliable and cost-effective, though several recommend purchasing replacement clamps separately.

Not the same as the image.
Would Not RecommendWhen I picked this up from my local store it didn't look like the image on this page despite being the same make and model. The material thickness was much thinner and there were not barbs on the barrel. There was simply a single groove the width of one of the clamps in the middle of the barrel. I guess the theory was that the clamp would squeeze material of the hose into the groove, locking it in place. Doesn't work in the real world. I couldn't get the clamps tight enough to prevent leakage. I...
Works Great...

Mended my soaker hose perfectly!
Would RecommendI purchased this product to mend a soaker hose and it did the job perfectly. I tried the plastic cheaper one at Lowes and it did not work because the soaker hose is not as strong as a regular hose, since it has small holes in it to soak the ground. The plastic one would work perfect for a regular hose since it can stretch more than the soaker hose and I have used them but not in this situation. It was easy to use and quick to mend the soaker hose. All I used was a knife to cut the part of the ho...

Just What I Needed
Would RecommendI needed to splice two hoses together on my new roll around hose cart but I didn't want to use cheap plastic. I stopped at Lowe's and they had this all metal splicing kit. Exactly what I wanted and needed. Thanks Lowe's!!!

Easier than I thought
Would RecommendI'm a 63 year old female. I purchased this product thinking someone else was going to fix my garden hose. Well, I ended up doing the task, and honestly didn't think I could, as I had never done this before. Someone told how to use the Metal Clamp Hose Mender, and it worked. This might be a miner thing to a lot of people but I was proud I I did it myself, and no leaking..

Metal clamp hose mender
Would RecommendI'm wondering if I purchased separately if it would have been cheaper? I was in a hurry & all the parts were there! My neighbor weed whacked my hose, so 5 months out of work & since Congress hasn't made a decision since Dec. 22nd about extending benefits, mine have run out...I'm going the inexpensive route! I might not have tightened one side cause it is hissing & leaking! Will check it out again, but I am pleased with the product!

A very handy product
Would RecommendHad two partial water hoses from previous projects. Thought I was gonna have to buy new ends and deal with two short hoses. Went in to buy new ends and found this coupler. Saved me a bit of money and a LOT of hassle of the shorter hoses.

Hose Repair Kit
Would Not Recommendthe hose clamps are too small to actually work. I had to go to the car care store and buy real hose clamps to even slow down the mist streaming by the splice.

gilmour hose mender
Would RecommendEasy to use. 1. Start pot of boiling water 2. cut the injured hose cleanly on either side of the injury. 3. Get a standard screwdriver, smaller in size. 4. Once you soak either end of the water hose, one end at a time, take the clamp and place on hose, insert brass connecter, screw the clamp on tight. Keep going, it will grab the teeth and tighten as tight as you can screw. 5. Do the next end. 6. if desired, tape over the area with a waterproof tape.
Long time favorite
Would RecommendThis simple product does a great job of repairing garden hoses that have damage; I've used them for years without any problem. One simply cuts away the damaged section, inserts the barbed brass insert, and tightens the two hose clamps. One can make the insertion of the brass connector a little easier by warming the hose ends in hot water first.

it seems lacking
Would Not Recommend- you can not get a tight enough fit to keep it from leaking - maybe if it were made to fit OVER the cut hose ends instead of going inside it would perform better

Brass Repair Coupling
Would RecommendThere are two repair kits for hoses available at Lowes. This one has two hose clamps and is all brass. The other is plastic and has four screws on a plastic coupling. I bought one of each to do some freeze replayed hose repairs. Both work just fine. But the brass one here was a simple to understand and install unit. Put a pot of water on the stove, and when it boils, take it out to the repair site. Dip the hose ends, one at a time in the hot water for 30 seconds. The hose will slide on to the...

Easy but sharp
Would RecommendThis design is a lot easier to attach and seals without leaking. My only concern are the edges of the steel bands. If I used it on one of the hoses I pull around a lot I'd be concerned they would catch on things.
