Would Not RecommendPurchased 1 week ago to replace WHES30 which failed at the tank neck after 5 years. This unit is NOT softening effectively. Still have hard water after 3 manual regeneration cycles. Have salt up to #5, brine comes up, discharges etc. I.E. unit cycles as it is supposed to but just does not soften water. Incoming= 250 ppm, "softens" to 161 ppm, still HARD. Going to see if they honor warranty.

Bad softener out of box / Lowes would not return
Would Not RecommendWater Softener bought from Lowes and installed, (I was replacing a 10 year old water softener) and we immediately had a toxic/ burned plastic taste in the water that could not be drank. Called Whirlpool and tried backflushes and other things they suggested, it never went away. Called Lowes on day four and asked how to return it to the store and they said I have to get an RA (return authorization) Number from Whirlpool before returning to Lowes.
